Re: What is anti-Islamic about your kid reading Harry Potter?

btw that oldie dumbledoor[may be that's how you spell it] is supposed to be a homosexual.

really? where is it mentioned????????

Harry Potter author confirms Dumbledore is a Homosexual!!!

Re: What is anti-Islamic about your kid reading Harry Potter?

:smack: he waws having an affair with that other great wizard…wots his name

Re: What is anti-Islamic about your kid reading Harry Potter?

if you're worried about homosexual conotations of the books, then rest assured. there is mroe violence adn dark elements in the book than homosexual stuff. it was never implied in the books itself that dumbledore is gay. he was more of a father figure than a raging homo. he did have a BFF, but it wasn't his BF.

she just said later on, after the books are published that he was gay. and he's a fictional character.

Yeah a fatherly gay.....see the influence.

Anyway, if you feel its okay to let your kids read it then i have no problem in it.....

Re: What is anti-Islamic about your kid reading Harry Potter?

I'm way over 6 years of age and after reading Harry Potter I still haven't been able to see the homosexual content.

The thing is that we overanalyze each and every thing it seems and complicate matters further.

Anyhoo, I think the author probably made him gay just to be politically correct and "fit in" to today's society :D

Some are more restricted than most. I tell you I would have been a deprived soul had I not read fiction.

I think reading is a way of seeing the world which you wouldn't normally see.

lol, well thats weird. Harry potter was invented a few years back, but black magic has been rife in pakistan since yonks.....

I agree. There is absolutley NO evidence in any of the books that Dumbledore is/was gay. I have read each book atleast 5 times and nothing!

As amazing as the Harry Potter books are, JK isn't really an amazing writer, she is not original at all. I think she made the gay thing up in order to keep people interested. Didnt really last did it, as now we have Twillight (painsakingly addicitve to read inspite of the poor writing).

Re: What is anti-Islamic about your kid reading Harry Potter?

I think that's the thing with Harry Potter as well. If you sit down to review the book from an academic standpoint, you can find many writing loopholes, but I think if a book keeps you engrossed, it's style is definitely appealing.

There are many positive morals in the stories. Friendship, loyalty, trust, the good always wins at the end, and all that...

Re: What is anti-Islamic about your kid reading Harry Potter?

Probably not in the books but from the movie (one of Harry Potter series) it was quite explicit when they showed the rainbow flag.

I've gotta go....its almost bedtime......we're on the 6th chapter of Kenneth Grahame's The wind in the willows.

Re: What is anti-Islamic about your kid reading Harry Potter?

Unislamic? I think it comes down to Parental Preference/Discretion for their child(ren). The thought of something about Harry Potter being unislamic probably has to do with the theme it is based on, sorcery a.k.a. Magic.

Practice of magic is forbidden in Islam, so if your child starts to think it’s somehow cool to be able to do sorcery and grows up liking such things and finds a role model in David Copperfield/David Blaine, that could pose a problem.

But, i’m not a parent. So you parents know best. :aliyish:
