Re: What are you reading?
A very beautiful book. It just summarised the parables, dialogues mentioned in Quran about afterlife in a beautiful way through characters. A must must read book.
PS: Its ‘Jab Zindagi shru hogi’
Re: What are you reading?
I just started Daughter of Smoke and Bones - its an ol Paranormal Romance.
came highy recommended on Good Reads.
After all the Spiritual reading during Ramandan I needed a no brainer.
So far its okay - very cliche but what do you expect right?

Can you please explain the procedure and benefits to be member of Good Reads. Many people are talking of it nowadays. Can we download free books?
Re: What are you reading?
^^ No you can't download books. Its like a FB community for readers.
You can connect with your friends - recommend books to them, write reviews on ones that you've read, compile a list of what you've read so far.
They also have lists ie best paranormal romance, best YA books of 2012.
Its fun; you should join. If nothing else you can use it to scope out books that you plan on reading. :)
Re: What are you reading?

Re: What are you reading?
Hey guys,
Can you recommend any good Islamic book: something on philosophical, spiritual line? Preferably a truly scholarly work packed with mind soothing knowledge.
Any good book on Rumi or Iqbal?
Re: What are you reading?
Love of Allah
If you read urdu, then I would recommend Bilal (RA) by Saleem Gilani. A very well researched work written as novel (first person narration). I had given some extracts in this thread:

Re: What are you reading?
Unfortunately my Urdu is not that good. If only I had Urdu dictionary at home, I'd consider reading a lot literature in Urdu. But thank you very much for the suggestion, I'll definitely search for the book and place an order. Thanks a lot.
Re: What are you reading?
You might want to look into Al-Ghazali's works. I have heard much praise for his works on spirituality and philosophy.
Re: What are you reading?
Please keep in mind that there may be several translations, compilations of his work out there.
Read reviews before deciding on what to get.
Also, I think that Iqbal’s ‘Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam’ is also on the same lines.
I found a link. It might be quite hard to read online though.
Re: What are you reading?
Here are 4 books on other aspects that you might also find interesting.
The last two are by Tariq Ramadan.
Western Muslims and the Future of Islam: Tariq Ramadan: 9780195183566: Amazon.com: Books
Check out interesting titles in Tariq Ramadan’s collection on Amazon:
I found one on philosophy of pluralism and one on challenges of modernity.
