thats an interesting book, though Tariq Ali's fiction books are little bit disappointment.

The professor and the madman.
The only reason I decided to read this book was due to the title which wouldn't you admit is a bit attention-grabbing. The book is on the painstaking efforts of two men who collaborated to put together Oxford English Dictionary, one of them happens to be a clinically *madman. *On the whole I enjoyed the book, madman's titillating hullcinations and all, plus the new words the book has introduced to moi....like sesquipedalian ftw!!

The title really seems interesting, but professors are normally considered half mad :)

did they get different version of Mahabharat and Ramayan like we have different tafseer (explanation / interpretation) of Quran?

Yes indeed. One of the most riveting books I have ever read. Ive heard he is working on a sequel as well, though its not a continuation of this book.

No explanation is required, Mahabharat is not strictly a religious story, main Protagonist Duryodhan appears to be atheist. Quran is more of collection of religious saying, I believe.
Ramayan is black and white story of characters, In mahabharat, every character is grey. I only read these text as stories and use them in arguments :D

After Karna was Killed by Arjun, the eldest pandav, Yudhishtir gets to know that Karna was elder brother of Yudhishthir, since his mother kunti hid this fact, Yudhishthir cursed the entire womenkind that form then on, women will not be able to hide secret, so I often open my hubby’s secret to my saas and blame him that it was his kind who cursed us

Depends, sometimes she is impressed and sometimes it is misquoting religious text for own means, like most of the religious people do
