Re: what are u playing right now?
I am playing Prototype for PS3.
Busted up my PC so I am trying out old games on my Lapu.
Recently completed Fallout 1. Released 1997 but yar its a really impressive RPG and easily beats even some latest games!
Now I am playing HomeWorld 2: Released 2003. Awesome Space RTS.
If you haven't already, play Deus Ex and System Shock 2. Games these days pale in comparison. Both heavily storyline based if you want to play them like that.
Or you could snes emulate and play some classics that USA/EU didn't get, like Chrono Trigger.
I'm waiting for Arkham Asylum.
Game without a storyline isn't worth playing. Two games you mentioned look promising. As for Chrono Trigger, I already finished that some years back along with "Secret of Mana".
Re: what are u playing right now?
deus ex is probably my favourite game. played it through countless times.
it was eventually critically acclaimed and considered the best PC games to date.
if you want to get the most out of it, play it with stealth (lockpick, hack, silenced weapons, knifing people in the back).
because i'm a massive geek, i screen capt all of the books/newspapers/emails etc within the game but sharing them would ruin your experience.
there is so much depth to the game if you can be bothers to notice it. there was one point the first time i was playing it where i logged into a 'news bulletin' machine, a totally unexpected message completely freaked me out.
some of the books lying around are excerpts of 'the man who was thursday' a short novel about anarchism (which also happened to be one of my fav books) that fits in so well with the theme of the game. a hotel register contains the same name as the chief protagonist of the novel.
just some examples, but the whole game so much attention to detail it puts newer games (definitely deus ex 2) to shame.
what did you think of chrono trigger? personally i loved it. not a huge SoM fan. more final fantasy and zelda.
Re: what are u playing right now?
I'm downloading Deus Ex will definitely give it a try.
Loved it too. Secret of Mana wasn't that good ... probably the story felt too ordinary.
I am an FF fan too. I don't think any other turn based RPG game could surpass FF7.
Which RPG do you consider the all time best?

i beated chrono trigger using the save state feature of emulators ![]()

I'm also a FF fan. I also played FF7 back in the day. However, I preferred Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast to FF7. FF7's materia system was awesome though. I stilled preferred SoA overall though.

Yup, agree. FF7 is my all time best followed by Chrono Trigger for turn based. In general, it’s a close tie between FF7 and Ocarina of Time.
For me, FF6 is also up there. The other FF’s are good but I don’t think they can compare.
If you like platformer’s there’s a little gem called Psychonauts, it’s probably one of the most fun (and funny) games that I’ve ever played. Great gameply and great storyline. From the Monkey Island and Grim Fandango guy (GF is another one of my favs). It is genius on so many levels from collecting ‘emotional baggage’, literally suitcases that you have to reunite with their tags, to the level designs - MilkMan Conspiracy and Waterloo World (a napoleon based level, where you have to defeat him at a game!)

I've played the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. I haven't beaten the game yet.
Re: what are u playing right now?
^ u shud definetely try breath of fire 3 and 4 for PS1
it works perfect with the epsxe emulator
i luved that game
and xenogears for ps1 also rocks :)
I've played Xenogears on my PS2. I love the game. Maybe we should start a new topic for RPGs since most of these games would not fall on my current playlist.
