I disagree!
You shouldn't be obliged to cover the cost of you attending the wedding.
Whether the bride is spending £10 per head or £100 per head, that's nothing you have a decision over, and frankly not your problem.
You should give whatever you are comfortable with.
Give a gift dependent on how close you are to the bride.... not how much you think she is paying for you to attend.
A couple of my close female friends got married, and I bought them some gold earrings, if a colleague at work got married (someone I don't socialise with out of work), then I think £30 is ok.
