the attributes u mentioned i.e. beauty, character, personality, status, fortune balance, are all customization that you would like to see in your love.
just imagine, elimination of those attributes from the equation, and you will love to hate your love :p.

yeah exactly that happent to my class mate at uni, he falled for a girl who did hijab. they both were top ranking students n attracted towards each other bcs of their gud studies and nature n all. he is my best frnd and use to praise her alot even thouggh he never saw her face.
but the conclusion turned not too gud, as they never exchanged their feelings cuz they both belonged to different family n tarditionla backgrounds and girl got married to her community boy

i agree with CFT,
you can love someone for their personality, charm and character without seeing their face...you fall in love with the person for their inner beauty rather than their outer beauty...it's possible
think about arranged marriages in the past ladki ne to khwaboon ki dunya pehle hi saja di thi...she loved the idea of her fiance whether she had seen him or not...
