Are you sure they don’t speak hindi?
People in many indian cities are multilingual (like my manager who can speak telugu, kannada, english, hindi).

Who cares about Bangalore, I know what bangalore people speak. I don’t see or hear any spoken Kanada. Please don’t lecture me about what they speak in bangalore. I’ve been in bangalore long enuff to know what they are capable or speaking and what they are not. They are people who go to a chaat stall and say
“please give a plate of pani puri” in english. Please… kanada is a lost language in bangalore. probably in mysore you would still find active kanada. Infact india is a country of vast racial diversity. It doesn’t have a national common language like other countries. No wonder the tamilians wanted to make their language as the country’s national language. And the tamilians wanted the whole of south india to be separated from the north. They wanted to be an entirely different country.
English is the most common language, but Chinese is the most spoken language in the world.
