Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
Just watched the fall of wickets highlights. Every single Pakistani batsman threw his wicket except younus and Amir. It means that WI can reach a similar score. Though holder and Bishoo were getting a lot of turn.
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
Now, now - that is not very nice.
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
This needs to be framed.
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
You mean all the folks who showed up
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
His “better” record was 1* off 51 balls sigh
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
Its been good so far for Pak. WI 97/3 at lunch. But their middle and lower-middle order has been giving tough time to Pak so they better be careful.
The worrying part is that only Yasir is the wicket-taker. He needs help from other end as well.
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
Keep trying Azhar Ali and Asad Shafique for wickets ![]()
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
192/5
Windies batsmen (RR 2.17) telling Pak players “If u think you can play boring cricket, we can certainly do better!”
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
199/5 (RR 2.09)
If Windies don’t lose any more wickets today and if Chase (retired hurt) bats well tomorrow with the tail, the draw will be a strong favourite
The closer they get to the Pak 1st innings total the harder it will become for Pakistan to win this game plus there is always the possibility of Pak batting folding miserably under pressure in the second innings
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
Both teams are trying to play for a draw since day 1…lol
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
I think by tea tomorrow we will have a fair idea of whether there is going to be a result in this game
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
200 up
203/5
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
WI is playing for draw, so their run rate does not matter. With present WI team, where no player has average over 40 and team consist of young and weak batsmen, draw is achievement, especially when Pakistan already made 376 runs in first inning. So, what they did, playing slow, was acceptable, as they just needed to bat on without loosing wickets.
As for Pakistan, there are 5 batsmen in team with batting test average over 40 (Azhar, Misbah, Younis, Shafiq and Sarfraz), something Pakistan rarely had in past (actually, in past, only few Pakistani batsmen had average over 40 because until recently, average of 40 was rare and average of 45 was exceptional (today, average of 50 plus is exceptional). All happened, because ODI, T20I, development of super bats and batting friendly pitches … all have contributed in making batsmen to score freely and get high batting averages.
Here are past (retired) Pakistani batsmen with batting average over 40 (who played 10 or more test innings).
Tasleem Arif (62.62)
Miandad (52.57).
M Yousuf (52.29),
Inzamam (49.6).
Saeed Anwer (45.52).
Zaheer (44.79).
Shoaib Mohammed (44.34).
Hanif Mohammed (43.98).
Saleem Malik (43.69).
Saeed Ahmed (40.41).
So, until recently, only 10 Pakistani batsmen had average over 40. Anyhow, there are 6 more in present team (5 mentioned above plus Shahzad).
So, for Pakistan to start the inning so slow, it seems, Pakistan was playing with fear and was going for a draw from first ball. Younis 18 runs in 75 balls (12.5 overs) followed by Misbah who made 1 run in first 51 balls he faced, show the mindset.
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
Also remember WI’s best batsman Holder is yet to come ![]()
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
WI 2nd inn all out for 247
Mohammad Abbas 5 for 46 :k:
Pakistan lead by 129 runs…
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 3rd Test
Pakistan should play their 2nd innings in an ODI mode to hope for a victory…
