yeh it totally sucked specially since it wasnt my fault to get there late. my valima was the day following my wedding. the wedding was in khi, the valima in isb and it sucked to travel so much because we had missed our flight which was at 8 am. something was wrong with that flight so we decided to go on the next flight to isb except that EVERY flight to isb that day was full so we told the people to put us all in business class (we were about 13 people) they said they didnt have business class seats available for that day either. then we were like ok u must have atleast 2 seats in business for the bride and groom, and they told us we would be on standby and we didnt wanna take the risk so we all flew to faisalabad and realized when we got there that the drive from faisalabad to isb was 6 hours. needless to say, it was a horrible horrible day and i wouldnt recommend anyone having back to back events.
so while we were on the road from faisalabad to isb, we kept callign meelees telling her the situation and she was like, well since ur late im not gonna do the makeup, im gonna have my assistant do it. and we were like no, we paid u to do the makeup, so ur gonna do it and then she was like, well if i do it im gonna change 2k extra which i thought was ridiculous because she wasnt sympathetic at all and was a total b*tch. and her makeup wasnt really that good either. ive seen some far away pics of myself on that day that guests took and they werent that great. i havent seen the professional pics yet but hopefully they are somewhat decent.
when i went there i told her i want very little makeup and i wanna look myself, with my natucal color base. she did very light makeup then while i was sitting there i realized that my SIL had bought a God awful valima jewelry set for me to wear that looked like bells on a cow (it was that huge). yes, i had an awful day and i woudl recommend you pick out everything for urself. also, these people didnt know how to pin up my duppata and didnt have any sticker or anything to stick the tikka to my forehead so during my photoshoot it kept swinging from left to right. i was so tired, hungry and upset that day i actually started getting tears in the car on my way to PC and my husband kept aplogizing.
all in all, go to daniellas and pick out ur own things to wear specially on the big days.
also, i got him a wedding band for the wedding and a ps3 for the engagement. and ive gotta say, sorry SGC, but the wii is definitely not as fun as i thought. i had a wii and it was awful, they dont really have any good games except wii sports which comes with the console and after like a month, no one in my family wanted to play. the ps3 is soooooo good, it has great GREAT games and its extremely fun. i play it more than my husband but we play a lot together and watch each other play. call of duty all the way!!!
^ haha i guess it depends on what games you enjoy. we love the Wii and play it all the time and i'm seriously wanting the Wii Fit for christmas. i love even just the basic games on the Wii, like tennis and boxing. i'm really good at boxing!
i'm not that comfortable playing on the PS3 or x-box - something about those controllers just doesn't jive with me, basically too many buttons to push haha -so those are hubby's consoles and he plays with them.
Sumorani, thanks so much mate for your help , After reading your experience at Meelee I felt horrible , why cant they have good customer service when they are in the service industry !
For my sisters to gift my to-be , someone recomended Jafferjee's leather shop, they mentioned a wallet and a key chain pack with engraving on both , may be his name or just a short congrats message ... what do you guys think?
Gawd sumorani u went through a horrible time thts why i keep telling ppl not to go on the famous names....daniella and milee both r rude and scary lol...I had my engagement makeup from seemis and i want to go to her for my wedding makeup just cuz she is reallly nice she would listen to what u really want and give u good advice plus she is very professsional abt her work
^Thats a pretty good present only though if the sisters are younger. I have given a jafferjees wallet with names engraved to a couple of guys and they loved it and still use it. if they are older sisters specially married i think they should get something more costly that a guy would like say a ps3 with Madden 09 :)
My mom was thinking of getting my husband a laptop and i was like uhhh no, lets not spoil him. my younger brother and sister wanted to get us a gift so they were gonna combine their 'funds' and get me a diamond necklace but i declined that not only cuz it was too pricey but also because if they were getting a gift for us i wanted it to be for US, the bride and the groom not just me. then they got lazy of asking me over and over again about what we wanted that i ended up getting nothing from them :)
haha sumo, thats hilarious about your bro/sisters.
my parents gave the hubby a watch for engagement, and then money for the salami the day after the wedding, and they gave us really good luggage as part of the jaheyz since they knew we'd be travelling a bit on our honeymoon. they also got us furniture for our apartment for our first wedding anniversary.
my bro got us an entire bedroom set for our wedding present which was super nice and thoughtful of him, we think. its beautiful and we picked it out within his budget and did i mention its beautiful? :)
roz, jafferjee's wallets are classic gifts- good call on those!
we already went to turkey for our honeymoon and are going for a second getaway to peru in february inshallah. we wanna travel as much as possible because even thinking about kids :) My brother still asks what we want, though very rarely haha.
yeh, ive actually heard of seemis and have heard shes pretty good. i didnt hear about her when i was getting amrried though, 3 months ago but i would have asked my inlaws to go check that place out. my chachi whos from isb swears by daniellas, she says allllll of her female relatives get ready there and come out looking fab. and ofcourse my exp was just one among many, some may have had a great exp at meelees, mine wasnt THAT awful, my day was just awful and maybe meelee was pmsing that day... who knows. in any case, rozendeva, u should go check out these few places and see waht u feel comfortable with.
SGC, its definitely super nice of ur bro to do that. my bro just started working a month ago and i think everyones super exhausted from my wedding that no one really cares to talk about wedding presents now. ive been trying to get my mehndi pics and 'making of the wedding' videos from him for about 2 months and he just wont do it.
hi, i am a wedding planner in islamabad...i do the complete wedding decor and catering as well... moreover, i also have a farm house where we can have the weddings arranged... if u need any help please feel free to contact me...
hey u guys, i just read this thread. i think laptop's a kool idea. i was gonna do tat myself wen i get married INSHALLAH in Feb. but make sure he doesnt have one already. my fiance needs one so i was gonna get him one. i like the idea of a wallet but i think it's too much of a casual present not really a wedding present but i maybe wrong. n yeah there's not much choice for guy presents. u can get him a really nice designer watch i guess.
