Wedding cake from marriage of Queen Victoria’s daughter goes on sale … after 138 years:
A 138-year-old slice of cake from one of the Royal Family’s most controversial weddings goes on sale this week. The piece of cake is believed to be the only one to have survived from the marriage of Princess Louise, daughter of Queen Victoria, and the Marquis of Lorne. Wrapped in antique parchment and delicately tied with string, elegant handwriting dates the historic inch-wide slice at 1871.
