Lol I don’t disagree with home affairs at all.I just don’t think this theme would work in a desi wedding that’s all. of course using this as a mood board/inspiration could translate beautifully in our weddings if done properly .
I love the idea! It's so much more sentimental and has that wamth and fuzz. I'm going to be having my nikkah at home, iA. It's always been a tradition in my family to have this done at home, rather than the wedding venue. We only invite very close family and friends, although it gets pretty packed out even with them.
I think it's great for everyone because they're all relaxed and comfortable, but this applies especially to the bride.
Yeah, we tend to do nikkahs at home in our family as well.. I think both home or mosque are nice..
Mum also suggested having the reception in a marquee in the garden but then changed her mind when she imagined all the kids running thru the house with muddy shoes etc. to use the loo and just generally causing chaos..
I recently went to a wedding where they had a marquee in the garden (it was huge). They also had a luxury toilet cabin outside for the guests. It doesn’t seem overly expensive to rent either.
If I had a house with a backyard, I would definitely do my nikkah/baraat at home with a tent in the backyard with my nearest and dearest. But since I live in a condo, there isn't a lot of space so I can't do it :(
Beautiful wedding and gorgeous pics. I got married at home, the nikah part which was 6 months before our ruskhsati. It was a small, intimate affair. We didnt do alot of decor, nothing was perfect, the maulvi was a pain in the neck, but it was still a beautiful day, a start to the rest of our lives together Alhamdulillah and loved it. I didnt have a designer dress, my parents condo was too small but still the memories attached to that day are priceless.
back in the early 90s, our families used to have weddings at home. It was so much fun! All the men and women woudl get together and celebrate. then it moved to community centres and then banquet halls. Mainly because the families kept on getting bigger.
I really really really wanted my wedding to my at home - in the backyard in the late afternoon. It was my dream. But due to the number of guests we had on both sides, and the fact that my mom didnt want anyone in the house with their shoes on walking all over the place (LOL) we didnt :(. Did have my mehndi at home in the backyard thought :)
