wearing something other than Lengha?

Re: wearing something other than Lengha?

For someone who claims to have been exposed to many cultures, your thinking is very narrow and judgmental.

I live in one of the most diverse cities in the U.S. I’ve personally travelled to quite a few other countries. There are plenty of of non-desi wedding dresses that are beautiful. But choosing a non-desi bridal was never an option for me because that’s not who I am as a person. Every woman has a vision of herself as a bride since childhood. When we finally choose our bridal wear, most women tend to choose one that reflects their personal taste and their vision of themselves as a bride, and an outfit that makes them feel beautiful. Additionally, for desi women, we tend to give weight to a thing called family. Now your parents may be very liberal and may not care if you wear a non-traditional dress but that’s far from the majority.

Choosing a bridal wear that’s traditional to our culture does NOT equal not seeing beauty in other cultures.
