Yes, I do think that the debt becomes joint.
Take for example…when we got married I spent quite a small sum on my wedding outfit, and mum bought the mehndi stuff…now BIL got marrieed and he had to borrow money to pay for the clothes and jewellery, so now he has to spend his time repaying that money…whcih comes from the joint account.
So then I view it as if I’d done the same zidd…and spent a fortune, then hubby would have been in same situation…
Does that make sense…?
Also, in my case, my graduate loan got absorbed into the mortgage, and we both pay that from the joint account where both salaries are paid, so it became joint…
