Re: Wave of Violence in Hazara?
Nope don't support it as it has never been an issue till two weeks ago. This is nothing more than politics and no real problem.

.......*A question to all people here on this forum especially Pakhtunkhwa - how many of you support the separation of Hazara from Pakhtunkhwa? Simply answering yes or no will do. *
The question should be asked and answered by the people of Pakhtunkhwa in a democratic manner. ANP did not resort to any violence to get the name changed and if one truly believes dividing the province into two would benefit people of Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan in general, the matter has to be patiently deliberated, and peacefully resolved.

Heres the poll.
Chief,
Don’t confuse the MQM, which is a political party with Urdu-speakers. Actually, as far as I know, hardly any Urdu-speaker supports provincial status.
Re: Wave of Violence in Hazara?
The Hindkowans are simply a sub-group of Punjabis. Most belong to the Dhond tribe, that also lives in Muree and Azad Kashmir. A reasonably solution would be to ceed Hazara, minus the Kala Dhaka and Batgram to Punjab. In return, Punjab should give up Isakhel tehsil, since its almost entirely Pashtuns.
Re: Wave of Violence in Hazara?
Thanks to Pakhtoonwha new name, we have now a dozen new provinces demand across Pakistan! and also Hazara never have though to make province the chance provided by Pakhtoonkha.
now I guess if want to save some sanity then new name can be Hazara-Pakhtoonkha! or make them new province and open another endless issue of new provinces - not on the basis of real problems in administration but only because everyone wants own province!

Before cedeing hazara to punjab you will have to take its people into confidence. If the hindkos want separate province for themselves then it wont be right if we hand them over to punjab and also punjab is very big province and will become much bigger if we attach hazara to it.
Re: Wave of Violence in Hazara?
Are you kidding me? Why it has created so much pain by just changing its name? As I already said it is a done deal even Chaudhry Iftekhar can't do anything now, and you have to move on. Think above racism. Will you?

@ pakone - if my words come across as that storng that it appears to be hatred then that is definitenly not my intention. I have absolutely no objection to any of the areas west of the Indus being named Pakhtunkhwa. That is indeed the right of Pakhtuns. No one can deny them that right. That area should not be up for debate even. However, I object that the name is imposed on Hazara a predominantly non Pashto-speaking area - had there been no objection then I would not object.
Had Hazara been surrounded by Pashtun areas such as the centre of Peshawar which is or was predominantly Hindko speaking then it would have been futile to resisit. However, Hazara can form its own province as it is a separate geographical entity.
The identity of Pakhtuns should not be comrpomised at all but it does not mean others should bcome the sacrificial lamb for them. In this context there is a very easy simple solution
*There are many colonial wrongs to be righted - including the current provincial system. Many people complain that central government have too much control over Pakistan but by giving control too Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore and Karachi it does not make life any better for those already at a disadvantage. Balochistan could be a next hot point - the provincial boundary needs to be altered here. *
Hiindko speaking peopel do belong to different tribes - Awans, Gujars, Abbasis,Sardars, Sattis and even Pashtun origin tribes such as Tareens, Tanolis, Jadoons, Swatis but even in the portion west of the Indus there are many non-Pashtun settlers and former Hindko speakers who have adopted Pashto.
@ lonerangerm - Hazara was part of NWFP since partition - NOT a part of Pakhtunkhwa.
@Zakk - sure they should do it democratically but do you think the Hazarawal will be listened to by the ANP-PPP establishment in Peshawar? Its a bit hard to find democratic solutions when the 4 main "democratic" parties in NWFP ie PML-N, PPP, PML-Q, ANP are family parties based around 1 figure/name or family or in the case of 1 formed by a dictator.
Can you imagine how the situation in Hazara would improve if they were given autonomy?
Hazra does have very powerful families but having leaders and CM's from an area does not mean actual benefit for the people. The case of Jamali comes to mind.
I can only judge my observations based on travelling there last year and just speaking to people involved in tourism. I am not syaing that in anyway its the Pakthuns fault for whatever has happened. I blame the media for inaccurate coverage but the people over there will just hear "we cant visit because the situation is bad in nwfp".
Anyway I dont object to Pakhtunkhwa although I do support the separation of Hazara from Pakhtunkhwa, which there is obviously some demand for.

**Thank you. I responded on the other thread with the poll, but I will say this: If the separation of Hazara is predicated on the name change of the province, then this is not sound reasoning. We can address the issues of Hindko identity/rights on the provincial level and make the necessary concessions to fully integrate all of the communities within the province. We have to get this right.
Re: Wave of Violence in Hazara?
Region Hazara is not belong to any Pakhtun or not Khyber then why rename.... we are living in this province so we need our own identity. our own name... we will not accept any Pakhtun khaw, or pkhtuinistan ............... now our demand for our own province... sooba Hazara ..............................................................................
Re: Wave of Violence in Hazara?
I am assuming things have calmed down in Hazara. No new news of violence. As I suspected, this was last ditched attempt by PML Q to revive their fortunes, and it failed. Pity, so many people had to die.
Police was brought in from Swabi/Charsadda and Peshawar districts (outside Hazara) and orders were given to shoot un-armed protestors by CM Hoti. That is how Hazara was calmed down.

I have no idea why people are blaming the PML-Q for this when it has been very obvious from day one that most of Hazara appears to be against the renaming.

Joke,
Hazara was quite untill Chaudry Shujaat turned up and created trouble.
Next he will demand the carving out of Jatistan, out central Punjab.
Plain clothes police (brought into Hazara by ANP) is seen firing Klashinkov straight into protesters.
