God...very sad news indeed. I did see him playing many times on TV in early 80s...he was indeed a dashing stroke-player.....what really makes me sad is the plain reality that how fragile we human beings are and yet we keep on planning for next 50 years.........I am really sad.....Actually i know a little bit more about Raja and i would like to share it with you guys....One of my uncles went to University with Wasim Raja (i guess Punjab university) . He used to tell us that Raja was an extremely undisciplined soul but at the same time he was a shear genius and an intellectual....he hardly used to attend any class but still he used to end up among top students. Anyway, may Allah bless his soul.

R.I.P...
Wasim Raja has always been my favorite cricketer from Pakistan.. His demeanour was exemplary.. the closest comparison with a modern player is Dravid.. always conduct themselves with dignity and the will to take up challenges..I still remember his last wicket partnership with Wasim bari to save a test in WI .. also immortalized by Amitabh Bachan's dialogue in "Namak Halal" -
In the year nineteen hundred and seventy nine, when India was playing against Pakistan in Wankede stadium Bombay, Wasim Raja and Wasim Bari, they were at the crease and Wasim Bari gave the same considertion to Wasim Raja and Wasim Raja told Wasim Bari “look sir, this ultimately has to end in a consideration which I cannot consider therefore the consideration that you are giving me must be considered very ultimately.” Therefore the run that they were taking, Wasim Raja told Wasim Bari “Wasim Bari you take the run…” and ultimately both of them ran inconsiderately, they got out.

Imran Khan had often described Wasim Raja as the most naturally gifted/talented player he had ever known.
