Dream debut by Fawad. Dude will have some nightmares about it. Hopefully he can brush aside this performance and be a better cricketer in days to come.
Anyway, I don't like the approach of Pakistan to kinda give away a consolation victory to SL. Good teams don't let the advantage slip by. I can see that Pak wanted to give exposure to youngsters in a match largely seen as irrelevant, but still. Our batting should show more backbone. With the kind of bowling we have, we will routinely be asked to chase 6 RPO or more and we should demonstrate that we can chase them. We may not win 'em all, but at least don't lose by 100+ runs. This is embarassing.

Pakistan will never chase a 260 plus target unless their openers dont give them a good start..our middle order (Yousef,Younis) are not as good a players as a Ricky Ponting or a Brian Lara, who would be able to compensate for the loss of their openers and still see their side to the win, not just get them close, but actually ensure they cross the finish line.
Pakistan's best options for opening have to be Salman Butt and Imran Nazir. Nazir has a strike rate of over 80.00 and he has the natural talent to be able to give lightening starts more often than not, Salman is a more conventional player, yet still has a terrific strike rate, all things considered of over 70.00 plus 3 hundreds, and 4 50s to go with it in just 36 ODIS - its his job to stick around as long as he can and let Nazir take on the bowling while he just puts the bad balls away and rotates the strike.
Shoaib Malik should be batting at 3. I dont care how senior Yousef and Younis are - Malik has 5 ODI 100s to his name - he has the ability play long innings and accelerate when neccesary and he is the Captain, so he should be at 3, and Yousef, Younis should be at 4 and 5. Younis has not justified been given the number 3 slot in ODIS, and Malik is a far better option.
Tough luck for Fawad Alam, a first ball duck on debut...thats gotta hurt!

He was probably nervous. It was his first time outing on international arena. Zaheer Abbas also went for a duck on his debut.

And yes Fawad needs to get some real opportunities to prove himself.

I was looking forward to seeing Fawad bowl. He bowled well for the dolphins in the Twenty20 Cup.
