VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

Yeah Indeed thay canprovided they can keep themselves united.

All of a sudden voices against Inzi's captaincy have gone away, and let him win the finals and we the PAKISTANI'S will make him sit on our shoulders.

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

Bublu must be putting a plan together for M.Hayden's replacement. Gathering few statistics
and type of a player Hayden will be replaced with, will certainly assist Pakistan.
MeanWhile aussies's are looking for a debutant.
And as the legend goes; Debutants usually do the heroics on the 1st day and get away
with it too.
Do we have A name yet?

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

  • Rana
  • Khalil

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

play azhar instead of iftikhar. drop hameed for tufs’. i don’t like akmal but have no choice but to play him as their is no other specialist wickie ]

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

Decent, I don't think Katich and both Watson and Lee will be playing in the finals. Expect Martyn, Kaspa and one of Watson/Lee/Katich in the Aussies side.

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

Good Luck Pakistan.. Kill these Aussies.. :)

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

Aussies ARE looking for a debutant. It’s in the news.
It could be a ploy. Who knows,,,,

Pakistan has to come up with a surprise strategy of their own in each innings
Batting & Bowling

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

I think drop Shoaib Malik and give chance 2 Azhar bcz the problem in batting line. In final Pakistani batsman must play with great responsibility to beat Aussie.

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

tsk tsk … people asking for dropping Malik for Azhar? :smack: Azhar’s one “40” is good enough for that? what else has his batting or bowling done yet?

Please people, stop asking for Azhar, there are already too many all rounders. We really should keep the same team.

There is one more idea if people like it… Taufeeq has done keeping in past, why not try him ? :ahaa:

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

^ Water cooler! , app kay saath jaye ga, :bukbuk::k:

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

yea well I think this will be the final 11
1) Salman Butt
2) Kamran Akmal
3) M. Hafeez (just coz he can bowl/ spinner)
4) YoYO
5) Inzimam ul Haq
6) A. Razzaq
7) S. Malik
8) S. Afridi
9) Rana Naveed
10) Rao
11) Khalil

I know many will say Hafeez is not good at all and Azhar or Taufeeq are better choices but I think this is a more rational choice. I know he is not good but will be worth for the finals for the balance of the team.

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

1) Salman Butt
2) Taufeeq Umer
3) M. Hafeez
4) YoYO
5) Inzimam ul Haq
6) A. Razzaq
7) S. Malik
8) S. Afridi
9) Rana Naveed
10) Rao
11) Khalil

I provided the solution with the sixth bowler and a more reliable opener+keeper.

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

Kamran Akmal's batting is once again under spotlight after that century and subsequent failures but keeping is without doubt making difference. He is earning praise from all quarters. After Sarwan's stumping, Ian Chappell went on to say that "Akmal in my opinion is the best gloveman in international cricket right now". This is quite a comment from an accomplished cricket expert such as Chappell and his batting, though inconsistent has been dubbed as courageous.

Though I agree that he needs to be consistent, but so far it would take a lot of guts for any captain to drop him.

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

is rana still playing?

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

so far Rana is playing.

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

I guess since the finals are a best of three, we can kind of experiment in the first game but I'm against it - I wouldn't include Taufeeq in these last stages and go with players who've already faced the Aussie attack over the past month.

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

^ i dont even know if tomorrows game is gonna happen... i hope it does though...

melbournes partially flooded! pray that it clears up by tomorrow

Re: VB Series 1st Final Australia v Pakistan

lot to say but i think i,ll keep my koolzzzz… till thursday… if i can…
so finally we r in funals. we beat australia after 2 years… YUYU found his form back.. INZI look superb… AFRIDI doing his job making money for PAKIZZZ.. RAZZLER doing his best… KAMI showed some resistance… MALIK looked good at the start :jhanda:
and some went against PAKI… BUTT flopped… HAMEED FLOPPED …malik couldnt keep his kool AND i dont think i have to say anything abt PAKI bowling attack rite now…cant say enf abt BOWLING :frusty2:… AUSIs r really lucky they havent face best of PAKI ODI team yet and with SHABBIR, SHAOIB, SAMI, GUL, and DANISH out.. and TAUFEEQ getting no chance.. KAMAL not being selected AUSIz r really lucky to getaway this time. but there is still time…
with the squad that we have available i,ll say best 11 would be

1.TAUFEEQ (MY FAV,AND BEST OPENER IN PAK RITE NOW INCLUDING BUTT JI)
2. salman butt
3.SHOAIB MALIK (totally screwed him by changing his position)
4.YUYU (BACK IN ACTION)
5.INZI (CLASSIC)
6.KAMRAN (can use him in upper order to accelerate the score)
7.RAZZAK (i wish he can bowl as he did in 99 world cup, dunnno wat happened to his bowling? he used be such good bowler…)
8.AFRIDI (money maker, ENTERTAINER, and useful oned player)
9.RANA SAHIB (just bcz he bowl cleverly and good against WINDIES
10. ANJUM****
11. khalil ********

Inzamam to play in final after ban error

Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq has been cleared to play in the opening tri-nations series final against Australia on Friday after the International Cricket Council (ICC) admitted they had blundered in their disciplinary proceedings against the player.

Inzamam could have been banned after being found guilty over his team's slow over rate in their crucial win against the West Indies on Tuesday.

That was his second breach of the code in the past 12 months - an offence which carries a one match ban - but match referee Chris Broad failed to upgrade the Pakistan star's penalty.

"The International Cricket Council today (Wednesday) confirmed that Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq will not be retrospectively banned for his breach of the ICC code of conduct during his side's match against West Indies on Tuesday 1 February," said an ICC statement.

"Under the provisions of the ICC code, Inzamam's penalty should have been upgraded to a level three offence which carries an automatic ban as this was his second breach of this particular level two provision in a 12-month period.

"This was not the case but in fairness to the player the hearing will not be reopened. The original penalty imposed will stand and no further action will be taken."

Inzamam was also fined 100 per cent of his match fee for the breach but Broad admitted he had made an error.

"In applying the provisions of the ICC code I neglected to consult Inzamam's past record. It was an honest mistake and the matter has been dealt with," said the former England batsman.

Top order vital for Pakistan

Meanwhile, Inzamam said preserving early wickets would be vital if Pakistan were to continue their recent run of form into the finals against Australia.

Pakistan completed back-to-back wins over Australia and West Indies on Tuesday to grab a finals berth and help erase memories of their 3-0 Test whitewash by the hosts.

Their massive 307 total against the West Indies - highlighted by a knock of 105 from Yousuf Youhana while Inzamam himself scored 74 - was the second highest in a one-day international at the WACA.

Just as importantly, strike bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan grabbed 4 for 29 off 9.1 overs to end the West Indies' hopes of overhauling the total.

Inzamam, who has been under pressure to keep the captain's job, said Pakistan had been working on keeping wickets intact early in the innings, setting the scene for big-hitters such as Shahid Afridi later on.

"If you look at the last couple of games... if you save wickets then in the last 20 or 30 overs you can score anything," he said.

"The last game against the West Indies they had a couple of wickets in hand and they scored 340-odd runs, so it is important that we apply that."

The win over the West Indies prompted captain Brian Lara to declare them a big threat to world champions Australia in the best-of-three finals, and Inzamam said Pakistan was optimistic of playing well.

"I know it is tough opposition but if we really work hard then well, hopefully we will perform well in the finals," Inzamam said.

He said his own form had improved at the right time as had that of Yousuf and allrounders Afridi and Abdul Razzaq and strike bowler Rana.

"My form is good, that is why I am looking good," he said. "The last two games he (Rana) has really done well - they (the bowlers) really feel hunger and I think he has set the example," he said.

The Australians are still under pressure over their opening combination following the continuing poor form of Matthew Hayden.

Coach John Buchanan again threw his support behind Hayden, whose position is under threat from the richly-talented Michael Clarke, who has moved up the order to open at various times with huge success.

Hayden has scores of 6, 27, 3 and 6 in his four matches in the limited overs series while Clarke has a strike-rate of almost 95.

Buchanan believes it is only a matter of time before Hayden finds his touch.

"If we go to the usual scenario of a snapshot versus movie-length, we're in a period of time in Matthew's movie where we're at an ad-break," Buchanan said when asked if Hayden should play.

"So right at this time, we're waiting for the ad-break to finish so we can get back to the real movie.

"So hopefully he gets that opportunity to get back there and do it."

Despite Australia's loss to Pakistan on Sunday, Buchanan was confident the team had the depth to prevent a repeat - regardless of who was on the field.

"Out of the squad of 14, at the moment we could place any group, I believe, on the field and play just as well," he said.

Constant rain forced Australia to train indoors on Wednesday, while Pakistan rested.

Both teams are expected to name their sides on Friday.
