The entire world can recognize Palestine; the apartheid will still continue unfortunately because of the mindset of the ones with the bigger stick in hand. And as long as muslim countries with leverage keep silent, or at best give mooted response to Israeli bullying, there may not be any meaningful reform to the benefit of the Palestinians.

There needs to be a better lobbying effort on the world stage, and much hue and cry. Only the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and that has been the way of Israel from beginning. They bomb, and then complain of being under threat, and then bomb against to suppress the supposed threat which they created in the first place.

Obama Administration has said some cold words to Isreal’s current political leaders, but without any sort of reduction in material support, the cold shoulder attitude may not be so meaningful. The U.S. has the capacity to do more if it wants to.

You are absolutely right on lobbying efforts. When it comes to lobbying there is a group in the US, that goes to great lengths to unite Evangelists’ and Jewish lobbies. They make sure their efforts and causes are aligned. Of late that unity is strained, once that unity is broken, the policy shift will be very quick. And Palestinians will be the big beneficiaries.

Although the media tries to portray the chill in US-israeli relations to personality conflict between their leaders, I do believe it is an indication of change in US policy. Clearly US and Israeli interests are diverging and with reduced dependence on Mideast oil ( and soon to be fulfilled by Iranian one ), any President that follows Obama will be less inclined to go back to the old ways.
