Just curious though...during these periods Christianity was being corrupted a lot and it became more pagan than christian...is it possible that drinking blood was just another pagan ritual added to christianity...obviously violating original sources like halloween and stuff by being sort of like a bidah is to Muslims?...

humans have drunk blood thoughout the ages, they still do in places like th Congo...
Blood is a life giver, drinking blood is said to give huge power.

As pinnyfred quite rightly mentioned Vlad the Impaler was one of the most notorious, he was a deranged man who killed tens of thousands people...some say hundreds of thousands.

the vampires of new orleans are group of people who have gotten together and formed a group and have a joint philosophy and ethos... one of thenm is drinking blood...they drink a tiney bit every now and again...
possibly a teaspoonful or a small cup...gotten from a friend

kiddies, if you would like to do this at home... it is said that vegetarian blood its the best tasting

anyway these particular set of people do not adhere to a Christian set of beliefs
for you see not all people who live in the west are Christians.

NBN, when you say corrupted, it wasn't corrupted. Pagan rituals have been around in all religons, including islam, nothing new there. We are talking about eastern europe and that too the eastern orthodox church which always maintained its divine seat in Constantinople, now Istanbul. The Haga Sofia mosque for example is built atop the razed St. Sofia the church.

great muslim..sure..if you count the rapng and pillaging of the balkans, bulgaria, armenia..etc..etc.. Sultan Mehmet II was a tyrant who was only an iota better in tactics of rutheless rule vis-a-vis Vlad Tepes. The only difference is, after he conquered he made allotments for coexistence but never forget the ruthlessness and sheer depravity towards humanity that he exibited.

Codey, those two statements are not in direct conflict. Raping and pillaging for 3 days didn;t decimate a population. the elderly, the women once raped, other survivors were didn;t go away from conquered lands. Social mobility is not what it is now...

Co-existence from a standpoint of letting some churches stand once they were looted of all remnants of value...the raping and pillaging was a mantra of the turks...white washing it is a mantra of muslims.
