Valentine's Day

Well, Valentine's Day is upcoming shortly....a favorite topic for many to say the least. You know, I find myself wondering, what is the significance of this occasion? I mean, what is Valentine's Day? What other names can I call it by? Why do people celebrate this occasion? Care to explain? :D
