My parents trust me with their debit card and my mom will have me use hers for grocery shopping, etc. I rarely if ever use it for my own needs. If I accidentally do or need to…I let them know and they’re cool about it. They don’t get mad that I didn’t ask and they don’t demand that I pay them back.

I think age plays a difference here too, assuming you aren’t a 20-year-old. The older you are, the less likely they’re to get mad over such trivial things. Of course my parents dont demand I pay them back, I just do it b/c I think I should and they dont refuse my paying back (all the time, at least) considering I buy so often.
