USA: Empire in Denial

Interesting article…

The United States is now an empire in all but name—the first case in history of an empire in denial. That may explain why a country which accounts for nearly a third of total world output now has such surprising trouble getting what it wants. The last great Anglophone empire ruled over a quarter of the world’s land surface and population, despite the fact that Britain accounted for less than a tenth of global production. Yet the United States has spent recent months struggling to control just two foreign countries: Afghanistan and Iraq. If it is indeed an empire, it seems a strangely feeble one.

Establishing law and order in Iraq has proved to be beyond the capacity of America’s armed forces, even with British assistance. The overthrow of Saddam Hussein raised hopes that America just might be able to break the deadlock in the Middle East, but by the autumn, Yasir Arafat had reasserted control over the Palestinian administration and Ariel Sharon was building a replica of the Berlin wall around the Palestinians. Meanwhile, a repulsive tin-pot dictator in North Korea was defying American hyperpower with impunity, openly restarting his nuclear-weapons program and threatening to “open the nuclear deterrent to the public as a physical force.”

Yes, there are many similarities between the latter (dying) years of the British Empire, and the present Pax Americana...

America has been dclared a rogue and killer nation by every thinker, statesman, politician, writer, philosopher and leader with even the tiniest sense of right or wrong.

The only people who still think America is a country doing great deeds are those whose minds are bred n Fox and CNN and some Muslims who act as America's TP.

No country in the history of the world has fought more wars than America.

No country in the world has launched more attacks on other nations than America.

No country in the world has broken as many UN regulations as America except Israel.

No country has caused more civilian deaths than America.

No country has ever used more deadlier weapons than America, which not only kill on the spot but will keep killing 4 million years later.

I could go on, but for the intelligent this should suffice.

Yet we have people who believe that whatever agenda America has with the rest of the world is justified. They are so besotten with lies fed to them that they cannot speak anything else other than what's fed to them.

This is a war on terror. YES SIR YES SIR!

This is a just war. YES SIR YES SIR!

America is a just and friendly nation. YES SIR YES SIR!

Jihad is terror. YES SIR YES SIR!

Wahabism is evil. YES SIR YES SIR!

Taliban are evil. YES SIR YES SIR!

Once fed these commands, these Muslim automatons spew the same garbage once they are amongst other Muslims.

Even with such a massive tool as the internet for alternative sources of news, these people remain in the dark like wraiths.

The only thing worse than physical slavery is mental slavery, and these automatons of the west are the best examples of the shackles that imprison thinking and courage that withers in the heart.

Suffice to say that you do not have a clue as to what you are talking about.

Suffice it to say, you have no clue what I am talking about. Denial is a strong sedative.

Lajawab,

As the article says, if the US is an Empire, it is a strange one. One that does not capture territory ans hold it, but one which fights and leaves. No doubt the US is a Superpower, and the dominant military and economic force in the world, and like every country in the world it will protect it's interests. Fortunately the world is so inter-dependent that the best outcome for the US is a thriving world economy and advancement of civilization.

According to Karl Marx, any nation first becomes an empire when its forces leave it's boundaries. Right now the American forces have not only left the boundaries America but continue to hold other nations hostage on the strength of its forces.

And as for the only time it fights and leaves is when it is kicked out like in Vietnam and Granada.

The belligerance of American foreign policy now knows no humanity, no mercy and no bounds. America now is a nation which has tasted blood and it likes it and wants more.

The extent of heinous crimes that are committed daily by the American forces in the name of freedom has never been witnessed by the world.

History is proof that no other nation has waged more wars, killed more people than USA. And the blanket they throw over the blood drenched history of America is that those wars were fought to preserve peace and justice.

But war is war Mr. OG, and death is death, whether cloaked in the imperialist ambitions of Hitler or shrouded in American lies of justice. There is no justifying death except when it is ridiculed by the American propaganda machine as a fight for justice and the American way of life.

To fight against injustice, mischief, bloodlust and those that would usurp unjustly from those that are weak and downtrodden. it never brainwashed me to fight for oil in other countries, destroy millions of lives and then blatantly call my vampirical greed 'fight for freedom'.

But the good thing is, there are those Americans, who see and speak out against atrocities committed in their name. There are websites out there on which these people express their feeble, yet honest outrage to speak the truth. Though their voices are stifled, yet they speak correctly.

But I would never use Depleted Uranium on a starved and hapless people, scorching the land, air and water of those people for 4 million years and call it liberation.

And those who justify the use of these tools as 'liberationist', are in denial of a brutality the likes of which has never been unleashed upon the face of this earth.

The danger that this mentality is now posing to the very survival of the planet must be stopped. Whether by hook or by crook. This evil must be blocked.

haha lajawab, then why do you live here? the taxes you're paying are funding the "evil empire" you call home.

You have a very, very distorted and ill-conceived “knowledge” of “history.”

The USA is a mere gnat in comparison with other countries when it comes to killing people. You really need to read more of Ohio Guy’s posts and visit his favorite website on democide.

"Nearly 170 million people probably have been murdered by governments in the 20th Century, 1900-1987; over four-times those killed in combat in all international and domestic wars during the same years. "

The mega-killers of over 20 million each in those 87 years are Soviet Union, China and Germany.

So when it comes right down to it, your version of “history” is just plain BS.

MV,

Exactly.

"No country has caused more civilian deaths than America"

Would love to see him defend this statement with fact....

and by that definition there are more empires than we care to talk about

John Stockwell former CIA Station Chief in Angola in 1975, working for then Director of the CIA, George Bush. A 13 year veteran of the agency, Stockwell provides a short history of the CIA, estimating over 6 million people have died as a direct consequence of the agency’s covert operations since its inception in 1947. This talk was given in the late 1980’s.

“School of Assassins” Our own terrorist training school right here in the United States. This documentary is narrated by Susan Sarandon and features Father Roy Bourgeois, talking about this school located in Fort Benning, Georgia, where soldiers from Central and South America are trained in the art of torture, terrorism, and assassination.

“Genocide by Sanctions” This short film produced and directed by Gloria La Riva, features former Attorney General of the United States, Ramsey Clark, as he goes to Iraq to show the terrible conditions that the bombing has caused there. UNICEF, the Red Cross and other world organizations estimate around 5,000 children are dying every month in Iraq, due to the bombing and the sanctions that we have placed on them. Over 1.5 million Iraqi’s have died! Clark goes into the hospitals and talks with Iraqi doctors, who say that these deaths could be prevented if they had medicine to give to the children. We bombed out their way of life, their water system, their food system, their sewer system, their communication systems and more. Americans were lead to believe that this was a good thing.

  1. warlords are active again
  2. opium cultivation is once again booming
  3. a man hand-picked by Washington is president; both the president and several of his ministers are actually Afghan-Americans
  4. countless homes and other buildings have been destroyed by US bombing
  5. thousands of innocent civilians have been killed as well as thousands of others engaged in combat who were only defending the country they lived in from a foreign invasion; not one of the many dead has been shown to have had any connection to the September 11 attack; most of the so-called “terrorists” at the training camps had come to Afghanistan to aid the Taliban in their civil war, a religious mission, none of Washington’s concern
  6. crime and violence are once again a danger in the cities’ neighborhoods, which had been made safer by the Taliban
  7. the country is occupied by foreign troops who often treat the population badly; US forces seize Afghans and take them away without explanation and keep them incommunicado indefinitely; some are sent to the 21st century’s Devils Island in Guantanamo Base, Cuba
  8. in Kabul, the number of children suffering from malnutrition is almost double what it was before the American invasion(4)
  9. the quality of women’s lives has very slightly improved, but is still far below what women enjoyed under the government the United States overthrew in the 1980-1990s

Like I said, shooting a man because he has a headache, to put him out of his misery may be the American way of curing things, but multiply it by a few million and you have genocide. A calculated genocide of the Palestinian people, the Iraqi people and Afghani people and not to mention covert involvements of the American secret service in countless operations to preserve its hegemony around the world which resulted in millions of deaths.

First look at the plank in your eye then speak about the splinter in other’s, or so the Bible says. Compare the American genocide against a single nation or ideology and you have a barbarous nation like never witnessed in history.

Osama bin Laden, who is being hunted dead or alive, is being pursued for crimes which have yet to be proven. Yet the genocidal maniac Sharon is hailed as a peacemaker by America? The man who led a party of rapists and murderers on a village of starving refugees is considered an ally of the States?

For your own sake, fear Allah…Wait for the day when nothing shall avail you except what you earned in this world and what you have to show for it…Let it not be injustice of the heart for you shall be held accountable with whom you sympathized…

Greed and power is no justification for murdering countless millions no matter how nicely veiled in lies…We leave this earth with nothing more than our intentions, leaving behind our wealth, bodies and kin…The only thing that you take with you are your actions, and no nation has been more active in killing and creating weapons of destruction than America…
