Re: US winning in Afghanistan - Panetta
If Pakistan boycotted Bonn conference, why did they facilitate such meeting?

Re: US winning in Afghanistan - Panetta

good question. two possibilities:
Re: US winning in Afghanistan - Panetta
Pakistan didn't. Not even the Afghan government is involved in this rounds of negotiations or dialogues. Just goes to prove we do not control the Taliban.
Re: US winning in Afghanistan - Panetta
We seem to conveniently forget why The United States entered this war on terror in Afghanistan. Was Afghanistan not a sanctuary for terrorists, who have been bent on destroying peace all over the world and killing innocents without provocation? Would you not agree that the terrorists’ hold is broken and that most Afghans have tasted freedom today? Children are free to go to schools; men and woman are free to go to market place without the fear of Taliban goons harassing them. The Afghan security forces are trained and continue to take over more and more security responsibility for their country. On the whole, is Afghanistan not better today than it was 10 years ago under Taliban rule? If this is not a sign of progress and success, then what is?
What Secretary Panetta said is not untrue. He is right to say that by the time we leave, Afghanistan will be free of Taliban menace and Al-Qaeda will not be able to find safe havens there. Do you not agree that a terrorist-free region is in Pakistan’s interest as well?

I agree with your post, Afghanistan is much better off without the taleban. Can you please answer one of my question, what is the negotiation with the taleban all about? You guys have beaten them right? now you want to talk to them? Strange logic, and to end the war the Americans are even willing to give taleban a slice of afghan government. Twisted logic which only the Americans can understand.
Re: US winning in Afghanistan - Panetta
After fighting taleban for 10 years spending trillions of dollars joe Biden American vice president says that taleban are not American enemies. ![]()

in that case is it the other way around and Taleban is controlling Pak establishment? the nexxus is clearly there and has been acknowledged. Who controls who is the question.
Re: US winning in Afghanistan - Panetta

They begging afghan resistance at conference to stop beating them but according to panetta they winning hehehe

No, it was your arrogance to attack Afghanistan, Taliban had offered to handover AlQaeda/Osama to third/neutral party for trial.
The Afghan security forces are trained and continue to take over more and more security responsibility for their country. On the whole, is Afghanistan not better today than it was 10 years ago under Taliban rule? If this is not a sign of progress and success, then what is?
Then why do you want to negotiate with Taliban to bring them back in power?
