As a country we receive a lot of aid whether it is civilian or military. This could easily we withdrawn if we demanded tax on supplying routes.
Um, no. The supply routes are so vital to NATO that they would be forced to pay up. As I said earlier, neither the civilian nor the military leadership of Pakistan has any spine at all.

The issue is the absolute robbery, inefficiency and lack of transparency of revenues and aid we have received. The problem is the people, the mindset. Until that is changed Pakistan will never change for the better. Look at countries like South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore who gained independence after us and yet they have boomed.
Tax would be much better than aid which every us official brags about.

All I said was that army still controls foriegn affairs. So deal with Iran can only get through if agreed by Kiani.

I think Pakistan needs to take teh threat seriously. Some australian and western firm have also pulled out due to US pressure. Any firm workign on teh project will be black listed in US.

Recently, Iran and Pakistan signed a $7.5 billion deal to build a gas pipeline (called the "Peace Pipeline") from Iran's South Pars field and is being built between Asalooyeh in southern Iran and Iranshahr near the border with Pakistan. Under the agreement, Iran will provide 750m cubic feet of gas per day to Pakistan.
The new pipeline is to be operational by 2015 and President Obama is furious about this, but is powerless to do much. The US has already provided billions of dollars in aid to Pakistan to fight the Taliban. Iran, indirectly, sponsers some elements with weapons. The gas sanctions against Iran will never have the impact to punish Iran for continuing its nuclear program. Too many companies wish to deal with Iran. It is a pro-west market in many ways and when a company or country pulls out for sanctions, it is replaced by another. Pakistan ignored sanctions, but India did not even though it was offered to be part of the deal. Some of America's allies are really not allies at all. They are merely opportunists taking advantage of the situation to cash in.
Now, another blow to sanctions, this time from Russia. Nothing new about this, but despite strong rhetoric from the US, Russia is activating the nuclear power plant in Bushehr, Iran, this summer. The US does not want it to occur until Iran backs down on the nuclear weapon development. Putin and Clinton are butting heads over this issue, which will only end in Russia's favor. It will be Iran's first operational nuclear power plant. The plant, built by Russia for a cool $1 billion dollars began in 1995. Iranian officials have been long impatient about its activation, citing that Russia was dragging its status because of US pressure. Most nuclear plants are built and operational in half the time.
Thus, more examples as to why President Obama's stiff sanctions will never be effective. Too many countries and companies have investments or critical stakes in Iran. Even the State of California, which has an economy of a small nation, has investments in Iran for their CalPers retirement fund. If a company like Shell Oil, stops shipping gasoline to Iran, another company will be more than willing to do it.

On the nuclear front, I think Israel has bribed and cajoled russia with enough tech for their roosi software that russia hasn't delivered advanced SAM-300 systems among many things. I don't it is the iran side of the pipeline, but the pakistani side that will run through balochistan that is the key.

If we do not take gas, US won't need to bomb us to stone-age, we will be there without US help, if do take the gas and go on with the project, chances are US will try to bomb us to stone age, the chances of the later are only 1%, so lets go with the project and see what US is upto...
The element of surprise here is, US is not saying anything to Iran who is supplying Pakistan with the Gas but is pressurizing Pakistan to not to take it..

That is because Iran gives a damn about US threat. It is already black listed by Sam. However Iran has oil to survive where as pakistan has nothing if aid is stopped and exports are curbed. More over Iran is not fighting war on terror neither it was part of Jihadi help against Russia nor creator of Talibans like extremists. That is perhaps why Iran is spared from invasion like Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran was great ally of Sam during Reza Shah pehlvi's time, Sam might still hoping to get this great country like Malaysia back to its ally. Moreover Iran is not part of IMF or other sh!ty crap to control its economy.
