Re: US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?
Today NBC issued a unique poll results in which they have shown that each of present republican candidates (Rubio, Cruz, Kasitch) would have defeated Trump, had they been head-to-head without any third candidate. GOP is such a mess
Re: US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?
Yup, they are bunch of egoistic, self centered jerks who are more interested in their own presidency than the future of this country.
I give it to Michael R. Bloomberg who decided not to run as an independent candidate because he feared that his votes will reduce democratic votes and increase the chances of a republican president
Re: US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?
Yes she has 300 pledged delegate lead with 50 pct of pledged delegates 2000 total over. So Sanders needs.300 delegate lead in remaining 2000. So needs 1150 out of 2000. Or 57.5 pct of remaining.
Re: US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?
The most interesting situation is on the republican side where tables are turning after Cruz won Wisconsin, thanks to the republican rule of “winner takes all”. NY will not be easy for Trump either. Though I dont know what are polls showing right now.
I always think Cruz is worst than Trump by many means and will be tough for either Hillary or Bernie to defeat him.
Re: US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?
Primary candidates are decided on the base of # of delegates everybody pockets.
After Wisconsin, in GOP:
Trump must win 58% of remaining delegates to hit 1,237 magic number (was 56%)
Cruz must win 87% of remaining delegates to hit 1,237 magic number (was 88%)
Kasich must win 132% of remaining delegates to hit 1,237 magic number (was 127%)
And in Dems:
Clinton must win 33% of remaining delegates to hit 2383 magic number (was 34%)
Sanders must win 67% of remaining delegates to hit 2383 magic number (was 66%)
Now for Sanders her is the problem. He is winning mostly in the “open” states where the independents are allowed to vote. Only three of leftovers are open. Rest of them all are “closed” contests including NY
Re: US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?
Hmm, specifically regarding sanders that is a really huge hurdle to climb, especially in New York, he does amazing with independents and that’s whats probably going to win him the general election if he gets there.
But I have one problem with the article you linked and the info provided and even the percentages you quoted. I also know this is a sanders talking point but irregardless of that fact it does have some merit/truth.
Specifically, this is information that you should be linking,
Everyone always counts super delegates but their vote can sway/switch like they did with Obama in 2008.
But it’s going to be a tough climb for sanders that is very true, but it’s plausible sanders can pull a Michigan in New York mainly cause there are a lot of Muslims/jews there as well.
Re: US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?
You are right about superdelegates switch but the reason why noone is taking it into account this time is due to strong influence of Clinton in Democratic establishment. She is their candidate and you can see it. Look at how NYC mayor De Blasio campaigned for her in different states or just yesterday NY Governor Cuomo announced daily wages increase to $15/- while Clinton sitting next to him. These are people who’ll vote for superdelegates and they are on Clinton’s side.
Re: US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?
Very True, this race is going a lot differently than 2008, Clinton has learned a little bit from her mistakes in 2008, she is clearly the establishments candidate. But, I think/believe these type of people hold no loyalties…when the winds of change come..they will follow. They are supporting clinton right now because she appears to be the favorite to win. If somehow “magically” bernie starts doing amazing and gathers the popular vote and wins more delegates, guaranteed they will switch because its their jobs that might be on the line next election cycle.
They also support her because as the “most likely” presidential candidate if they gain favor with her early and now..she’ll help them in the future when she does become president. Possible appointments to her cabinate maybe?
Regardless there are some superdelegates that will never switch as you mention, but there are several that will.
Re: US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?
Uncle Trump was in town yesterday. Did a YUUGEE rally.
Now demographically, guess which country’s decent were in majority attending this rally? Yep, our fellow INDIAN brethren.. showing their luv for Trump.
Actually the rally was in bethpage which is next to the town of hicksville where its all indian origins.
I think there is so much similarity between Modi and Trump that they might have mistaken one for another
