I'm sure the latino and black populations don't find the topic of Racism as amusing as you obviously do!

I’ve got to confess that it is nice to hear aKKK47 express concern for some Americans, even if it is limited to the poor, black and left behind. Of course, we all know he could give a rats *ss about any of them and would be dancing like a fool ( :bhangra: ) if only his beloved mujahadeen could kill a few thousand of them with shrapnel bombs in downtown New Orleans.

try sticking to the topic it will be better for the discussion. when have thousands died from shrapnel wounds in new orleans you have nice imagination or maybe watching to much FOX News!

Matter of fact i do care for what happens to people only people i don't give a damn about is the governments like the US administration and the US military if they all died i could'nt care less!

Why you right wing amerikkkans always avoid the obvious instead of giving answers you say oh well those people over there have racism so our racism is ok and nothing we can do about it!

Problem is aKKK47, you don't want a serious discussion about racism or most of the other things you post about America in Gupshup. On the slim chance, you might really care to discuss this topic, I'll take the bait.

The author of your cited article obviously has some problems. He refers to the White House as "the former slave-owners' mansion at the end of Pennsylvania Avenue" and the Democratic Party as the "Nixonized Democratic Party." He clearly is not appealing to reasoning people but rather preying upon emotion and anger. That "former slave-owners mansion" is the same one that sent federal troops into the South during the 60's to assure entry of black Americans into institutions of higher learning and equal access to public services including transportation. The Kennedy/Kerry/Pelosi Democratic Party of today is about as close to Nixonian philosophy as I am close to China.

America, over 200 plus years, has a very fine record of dismantling indices of institutional racism. Individualized racism will always exist among some in America just as it will always exist in every other part of the world. Governments and institutions cannot make individuals give up racist beliefs.

Even that staunch right wing supporter of America, Agent Smith, recognizes that the kind of issues brought to light by the evacuation plans of New Orleans relate to socio-economic matters rather than matters of race. The article itself points out that the Mayor of New Orleans is BLACK. For many years, both the mayor and the chief of police in Los Angeles have been black. Exactly how the actions of black mayors, black city councils, and black led police departments that have some impact on other blacks provide evidence that white Americans are racist defies logic.

There ain't no black presidential candidate for US elections why would that be is it a fact that racist amerikkka don't want no quote on quote Blackman in da white house?

What's your point? White American-Italians, Blue-blooded Scandinavian origin folks didn't get to be president either.

p.s. Seems like the citizen of Lalukhet has finally gotten a "charba" copy of LL Cool J.

Why you painting over the facts the black population just like the latino population are neglected this is happening time and time again.

Racism is not just restricted against just black and latino populations, with this affirmative action you have had for so many years this system had descriminated against white people also.

The system is messed up white people don't trust black people and vs versa, the lation population is labelled all kinds of names and insults which i won't mention.

The problem is not being solved having a token black mayor here or there is not going to have the desired effect the race relations i think is getting worse.

And if the disgusting treatment and racism shown towards Muslims and arabs is anything to go by it just shows nothing has changed at all the racism is still there just need to scratch the surface!

As someone pointed out above, the problem of the poor being left behind during the hurricane was economic, not racial. Its just that the vast majority of poor are also black. Racism doesnt come into play here. Unless the black mayor being afraid of blacks damaging the stadium is racism.

The issue of racism is here in the US but also in every society on the planet...so why USA is being singled out all the time for social issues like this i dont understand.

In this country, blacks make up the majority of welfare recipients, high school dropouts, unemployed and criminals. However, they have at their disposal free housing, free education, food stamps and I could go on. If you are poor and black, there ARE opportunities in this country for you. when I was in the working world, the educated black people that I worked with were simply co-workers, not "blacks". There wasnt discrimination there, there was nothing but respect between colleagues. However when I walk down a city street and see a band of black teenagers dressed like "ganstas" talking their incomprehensible ebonics, rapping about killing the whites, i tend to cross to the other side of the street. Is this racism? Take a look at MTV some time to see what the black youth are "into". Who are their heros? OJ Simpson and Mike Tyson. Scary stuff.

I could not afford college. I had to work full time and go to school part time at night to get a college education. Not that I'm complaining - the point is that if i had been able to check the box on the school application that says "Black" then I would have been able to go full time for free or nearly free.

Yes, they have a tough time. But they also have opportunities to overcome. Opportunities that do not exist in other parts of the world
for the poor.

Riddle me this aKKK47, when a system discriminates against all of its citizens, how is it racist?

Your argument is becoming incoherent. You now say the system discriminates against blacks, latinos, Muslims, arabs, and WHITES. Who's left ????

Bottom line aKKK, is that ours is NOT a country that was founded to be or has the desire to become a welfare society. As Mamaof3 recognizes, ours is a society that strives to offer OPPORTUNITY to people in order for them to achieve better lives for themselves and to be better than some least common denominator.

There will always be people who don't seize the opportunities they are offered. They will fail. They will be poor. They will live wretched lives. Economic disparity among our citizens is not a weakness of our system. It is a promise guaranteed by our system. As long as the opportunities are not unfairly withheld from people because of their race, sex, religion and/or other suspect classification, our system functions as it should. 30 years ago, Bill Gates was poor. Today, he is the richest man in the US. God Bless the USA.
