ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP)–Pakistan will not allow American troops to use its soil for a planned ``spring offensive’’ against Taliban or al-Qaida fugitives, officials said Thursday.
Brig. Javed Iqbal Cheema, the chief of the National Crisis Management Cell coordinating with U.S. officials in the war against terrorism, said Pakistani policies do not allow American troops to operate inside the country.
``As a matter of fact they (the United States) have not contacted us for this purpose,‘’ he told The Associated Press.
We will not allow any foreign troops to conduct any operations in Pakistan,'' Pakistani army spokesman Gen. Shaukat Sultan said Thursday. Whenever they (the United States) ask for such thing, we always decline.‘’
The leak about US offensive "into Pakistan" is nothing but careful psyops to identify who the islamists within the PA.are. Perhaps we can expect another slew of retirements and reshuffles shortly
A hard-line Islamic coalition warned Friday that tribesmen might fire on U.S. forces if a planned “spring offensive” against terror suspects extends into Pakistan.
Extremely unprofessional on AP’s part to put up such a misleading and provocative headline.
Robert Blackwill would be succeeding Condoleeza Rice soon, he is Bush's foreign affairs advisor. May be Blackwill was responsible for making these actions.
If some USA soldiers are permitted to cross into Pakistan in NWPF and W'tan to chase terrorists, how does that become an attack on Pakistan? This is sheer sensationilism.
There are US soldiers in dozens of countries doing stuff. Does it mean US has attacked those countries?
This kind of bad 'headline sensationilism' is immediately grabbed by some hardheads and next thing you know, everyone is scrambling to save face and progress takes a back seat.
