Is it just me disgusted with how this has worked out? Suddenly there’s a US delegations visiting and Moamar sitting there in flowing robes and everyone going bhai bhai and calling discussions “warm”! Who is right who is wrong?
So he is not terrorist anymore? Or so called ‘morality’ has changed with the super power?
I just hope USA will only use its power for good things. Imagine if they decide to expand territory. What if they decide best solution for immigration problem is take over Mexico?
Exactly. I am not calling him bad or good. It is just disgusting to see all the open flip flop. How foolish and gullible we people are! One day most dangerous next day leader. One day great scientist next day PPP (prolifirator for personal profit ). I am just losing faith in all this nonsense.
One of the biggest problems to overcome/resolve conflicts around the world is a tendency of people to focus on the past instead of on the future. You can't change the past.
Nothing Quadaffy Duck does today or tomorrow changes what he did before. Before the war on terror started in earnest, GW told the world that regardless of whether you were a terrorist or sponsored terrorism before, you could get a pardon or general amnesty so to speak by changing your behaviour now and into the future. That's good policy. You don't need to force a regime change if the regime in place changes on its own.
Libya is not the only example of a country that has reversed its policies to curry favor with the US and the rest of the Western alliance. Pakistan did too.
Throughout recent memory, lot's of former terrorists have been recognized positively for seemingly changing their philosophies and actions. Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat were both one-time terrorists. Even Arafat got a Peace Prize for then choosing Oslo over car bombs.
Toga: Tell me exactly why it should disgust you that Q Duck and Libya have publicly renounced WMD development and terrorism and admitted their responsibility for prior terrorist acts. Tell me why it should disgust you that other nations welcome this openly and will now reward Libya for its policy changes by lifting sanctions, helping economic development and welcoming Libya back into the civilized world.
I suspect that what disgusts you is that this occurence is an example of how the Bush administration's get tough policies with some rogue nations have caused another rogue nation to change for the better without any need for military activity.

So the American's are not going to "liberate" the Libyan people after decades of tyrannical rule by a brutal dictator?
[/QUOTE]
That depends if he has WMD or not. US only liberate from dictators WITH WMD. :)
No need to “liberate” Libya anymore. Score a big victory for the Bush doctrine.
Now that he has rejoined the fold of the human race, Qdaffy Duck should be asked to spend a night in the Lincoln bedroom. Given his well known proclivity to cross-dress, Q and Laura could have a wonderful time comparing their wardrobes.
Another of your heroes falls before the Great Satan. :k: Live with it.

:) One after the other all the "priniples" that so many American's argue about i.e Saddam was such a brutal dictator, and his people have been "liberated", but Gadaffi, and the Libyan people...ah well.
Or maybe they have got enough bloody noses from "liberating" people, from their ever bloodier experiences in Iraq?

Qdaffy is being such a good little boy, there's just no need to spank him. As to "liberating" the Libyan people, why do you wait for Q to become George's new Arab poodle to voice your concerns about the Libyan's liberty? :)
