"Most popular" means "most watched". Fox is not the most watched or even the most influencing one as you changed to in your last post. Yes, it's propaganda, but it is called out as propaganda by almost every other news source. Those who watched are already in that myopic, fundamentalist, intolerant state of mind. It is actually more influenced by the neo cons than the neo cons are influenced by it.

US economy is indeed in some trouble but nowhere near the third world levels. The other thing to remember is that while the past levels of dependency between Europe and Asia with US doesn't exist to that degree any more, fact is that such dependency is still very strong and so the hedging effects will kick in soon at some point.

^I hope to see a day when dependencies upon US are past. Then I would care less about US Economy and It's merely negative after effects on home markets (these days).

There is a reason Asian stock markets collapse following US stock market collapses. So if US economy turns "thirld world" the thirld world which indirectly is dependent on US economy will turn into 4th world.

watched orielly last night (I find him comical and entertaining though a blowhart) there was some info abt what is poverty in the US.
Singles making under 10k or couples making under 21K are apparently considered 'poor'. Howvere poor in US and elsehwere is not the same. Poor in US do not lack roti kapda makkan and a large number have color tvs, dvds, cars and stuff normally associated with middle middle class elsewhere.
Before gleefully and ungreatfully slandering the US just because of current capital mkt problems, people should remember some very basic and fundamental factors:
The resource and peoplee ratio in the us. Is very high.
Much (50plus) of capital mkt related losses are and will be born by rest of the world, not US
When USD devalues it is China Japan and Saudi that suffers most
If pushed hard enough, US is capable of cutting of aid and guarantees to all the countires that clamor for and take US money and use it to harm the US
One other neocon blowhart made a point that actually made sense - if US stops protecting Saudis, they"ll be back in near nomadic anarchy
If US tariffs or regulates imports from China, the Chinese economy will crumble in under 5 years.

For comparison purposes. Here is another comparison (that I hope does not go over your head): Saying US' economic situation is worse than Pakistan's is like saying the New York Yankees are in worse shape with an 8 game losing streak than a local pee-wee team is with a 5 game losing streak. Yes, the losing streak is longer, but how can you possible compare a bunch of year olds fumbling around the baseball diamond to a line-up of Major League All-Stars?
