URDU.........

Re: URDU.........

Urdu is a foreign language for people in Pakistan , If something should be promoted in Pakistan it should be English. It is the universal language now. The fact that your post is in English proves it.
Don't get me wrong , my mother tongue is Urdu , but I am a realist and realize that Urdu can be a regional language as Punjabi, Sindhi, Pukhto/Pashto, Baluchi, Brahavi etc are.
Till the time I used to live in Utopia ( Pakistan) I also used to have a myopic view of making Urdu national language of Pakistan. Yes it is considered a 'rabtay key zuban' and National language but lots of politics worked behind it. If English was made a national language and 'rabtay key zuban' , people in Pakistan would be using it as national language and rabtay key zuban.
I am sure I am going to get a lot of boos for saying what I said but fact is a fact is a fact.
The kids in All four provinces are overwhelmed and over burdened with the responsibility to learn , Urdu , English, Arabic, and one of the regional Languages. This create a big knowledge gap between the rural and urban population. I think it is a conspiracy to produce clerks , chapracies etc from the rural areas where there are no English medium schools.

Mushaira's are not a proof of progress of a language or country. If medical , scientific, professional, journals and magazines and books are published in a language that proves real progress. Are there any research journals published in Urdu ? No. We resort to English language journals and magazines for that purpose.

Got to go , I will post more of my thoughts on this subject.
