its literary urdu but very common in usage. in our area [Lucknow] even a layman will use those words. its called saqeel urdu and its more persianized. urdu has roughly 60% farsii, 35% arabic and 5% other language vocabs. here, la'n is arabic and ta'n is farsii.

@ KKF - Ohhhh! My mum doesn’t know much Urdu but Dad’s Urdu skill is like, Allama Iqbal or something and he told me the exact same thing once! Maybe he’s from Lucknow too…
