if you have the whole world open to you, mA, then spin the globe, close your eyes, and point. wherever your finger lands is where you should go! :)
i was speaking to some friends and they were highly recommending Spain- they absolutely loved Barcelona. Greece, apparently, has lots of places for halal food thanks to a large bengali population, so if you care about that, it might be a destination to consider- no need to go vegetarian for your honeymoon! Plus, its got a mix of beaches and city-life.
Portugal is beautiful too and not as pricey, relatively speaking, as a few other places in Europe. Switzerland is the classic romantic destination.
The south of France is also stunning.
i think you need to decide what sort of honeymoon you want - do you want an active touristy honeymoon or one where you relax together and enjoy the location?
for me, we decided against europe as we live in the UK and our plan is to do one or two long weekends a year to countries like spain, france, italy, turkey etc.
if you think this might be your one chance to go to europe, it would be very simple to plan a 2-3 week trip including both spain and italy and go to all the major cities.
another thing you might want to consider is, which place is most likely you won't go to in the future because it's too expensive etc. usually the honeymoon is the one time for a lot of couples that they can splurge on a trip.
lastly, i think you can trim down your list a bit. maldives and seycelles offer a very similar kind of experience, so just pick the one you prefer and delete the other from the list.
basically, i think the list just comes down to european cities vs island relaxation!
hey thanks guys for all ur advice :) really appreciated..

Hey princess21.. i'm thinking about maldives .. and i know a friend who went there, the pictures were asolutely awesome!!! I believe Honeymoon should be at a peaceful, exotic and romantic place, where u can relax and have fun and can take beautiful pictures. So i would suggest Maldives, Seychelles and thailand.. they have some absolutely stunning beaches and you will have fun there.. :)

Figure out wht sort of honeymoon would u like: cultural (rome, madrid), exotic (thailand) pure relaxation (the islands). It'll help you narrow down the possibilities. Wherever you go--it will be a most memorable experience:)

well said! We wanted a relaxing honeymoon over a sightseeing one, and we chose to go somewhere where we knew it was unlikely we'd go otherwise, so we went with Maldives. It was amazingggggggggg! White sand, blue water, halal food everywhere, we saw dolphins, went snorkeling and jetskiing and it was just heavenly so I would recommend that. I had friends who did the sightseeing type honeymoons in Europe and regretted it because they were already so tired from the wedding events.
hey guiys..thanks for all the suggestions :)
@fasadi,sounds like u haad agood time ...thats really great :)
yeah inshALLAH i l pick a relaxing island... ;)
any ideas abt fiji?or seychelles?
thoug i think from all the posts i will be going for the maldives option....
I'm having a really hard time choosing for our first holiday. It will probably be the only proper one for a while so I wanna take 3-4 weeks and do a lot.
Finally got one place at the top of my list but the logistics scare me and you always wonder if somewhere else might be a better choice.
@stoppit
what place u got in mind ??? ;0
actually,iv been thinking and thinkng(well i also work full time,so dnt really think that much)but still, its really hard to decide..but would just want to know out of curiosity, where ur going??

it depends on what ur looking for. my brother jsut came back from thailand and he loved it. fiji, maldives and thailand, specifically langkawi (island there) are all places that u will probably just relax and not do any sight seeing at all.
the other places u have mentioned are mainly sight seeing places. i would read about madrid, seville, and south of france. i went to barcelona last year, and it was definitely one of my favorite places to go to. i actually wanna visit more places in spain cuz i had so much fun in barcelona.
can anyone (who have been to Maldives for their honeymoon) pm me details of where they stayed, how much it cost them and general information(food etc) ?
as my fiancé and I are also thinking about going to Maldives.
I can vouch for Komandoo island/resort. Had other friends who stayed at the hilton there and soneva fushi and they recommended those too. The things to keep in mind with maldives are -
add in airtaxi rates (i think it's about $200 per person roundtrip) which is definitely worth it because you get to see the islands from above and it's what you take to get from Male to your hotel. Some resorts are closer to Male so you can take a boat. Most hotels offer an all-inclusive but you may want to price out what the difference would be. Wherever you stay it doesn't really matter because the water all around there is what's gorgeous. The other tip is that each island resort/hotel is known for certain things - some are more "family friendly" and others are great for honeymooners and others are more environmentally friendly/natural.
