Slight exaggeration? Perhaps. But not by much. Compared to Lahore, Karachi is an urban decay. Potholed roads, cratered highways, unkempt sidewalks, dusty environs, garbage-strewn streets, clogged drains and a free-for-all traffic mayhem made worse by ineffectual policing.

So when the ‘Karachiite’ crosses over into Punjab after Sukkur (which would be the terribly backward south punjab, he feels like he has entered another country?
In any case, this is quashed by Fahad himself in the next para when he says that its a ‘slight exaggeration’ and goes on to make the more realistic comparison of Lahore and Karachi. Its more a case of the United States of Lahore and Raiwind than Punjab. A few lollipops of metros here and there dont translate into progress. Province wide progress is still a distant dream, not to mention the cost that all this infrastructure is incurring in the form of untenable loans.
