Re: Uni of TO - Racial comments/action against Muslims
I agree with you, we have to be more patient and tolerant. Looking back into history, these times are not bad at all, Muslims have been through worse.
Faruk, I don't agree with ur point of "reconsidering the decision of making this place our home". We can live anywhere we want. InshaAllah, we will overcome these sufferings, but we should continue to live as proud muslims and spread Islam through our patience. No running away........ ! I can understand what you talked about living in UK. I have lived there myself and no doubt that place has been prejudiced even before 9/11.
Re: Uni of TO - Racial comments/action against Muslims
How far are people gonna run from these situations? There is discrimination everywhere in the world.....if it's not one kind it's another.
We need to speak up intelligently and permeate into mainstream society, media and politics. Then, and only then, will we be able to make our issues known and have committees assigned to find solutions for them. And in order to succeed in becoming part of the mainstream, we need to have unity or at the very least, moderate representation. Currently we suffer from a severe deficiency in this arena.
And btw.....racial discrimination is not new in Canada....it's been around for at least 30 years. The difference is that now there are people speaking up against it....before you were on your own.
