Weak argument. Australian pitches are conducive to Gul's type of bowlers. He would have been a lot more successful there.

Looking at AUS batting lineup I dont think This will happen. We will know when Pak travles to AUS this summer.
Any bowler fancy his changes against BD in Pakistan than agains AUS in AUS.
YES... But Irfan's test matches are against AUS and PAK where as Umar's is Bangladesh and NZL. ;)

So? You won't get wickets against BD if you bowl badly. Its pretty unfair to wash up all the hardwork he did. And again, like funguy said, Aussie pitches are conducive to Umar's type of bowling. Lets see what he does when we go there this winter.

Umer Gul & Irfan Pathan has no comparison with each other.
Umer Gul (RIGHT ARM MEDIUM ) has modest rythem and delivery action that concentrates to the line and length. Very nagging indeed specially in test cricket where batsmen are suppose to show lots of patience and wait for bad delivery tp play shots.
Irfan Pathan (LEFT ARM MEDIUM) also maintains a good line and length
the positive thing with Irfan his that he is a LEFT ARM bowler.
Many batsmen of any side are not comfortable playing the left arm bowlers, reason being the angle of the ball from round the wicket to the right handed batsman creates the illusion of ball flying into the out side the off stump ally and when ever the batsman thinks he has read the swing or seam and goes for a drive , the ball nips back in to the corridor and thru the stumps.
I loved Wasim Akram for this ( he has used this delivery a million times)
So Irfan Pathan will be for India what Akram was to Pakistan.
Pakistan needs to find atleast 2 LEFT ARM MEDIUM-FAST bowler for Akram’s deficit.

Lets see now:
** Both are young. One is 19, the other just turned 20.** Both within a year of their international debut. Both potential future stars for their respective countries. Both bowl in the mid-80's. Both rely on line & length more than brute pace. Both pathans. Both huge fans of Wasim Akram. Both tutored by Wasim Akram. Both very determined and hard working.
Makes me wonder where they will be 10-12 years from now.
Place your bets NOW :D
i am betting Irfan. Not because he has more talent but because he is more likely to get a whole lot more chances than Umar. Right now we have Shabbir, Shoaib, Sami, Razzaq etc taking care of the bowling so he has to sit out unless someone gets injured. What do you think?

the other i assume u r referring 2 umar gul. mate he hasn't turned 20 yet he will be 20 on april 14th. pathan and gul r both 19 years of age respectively. *
