You only hear the stories of the Iraqis who kill Americans, there are many who are helping rebuild their country rather than tearing it further apart.
Actually the US military is denying that that sort of mutilation of the soldiers bodies ever took place.

** U.S. Retracts Report of G.I.'s Being Mutilated**
Military officials retracted a report today that two American soldiers had been slashed in their throats in an attack Sunday in the northern city of Mosul. A military official here, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that the two soldiers had died of gunshot wounds to the head and that their bodies had been pulled by Iraqis from their car and robbed of their personal belongings. The military official said that contrary to some reports, the men had not been beaten by rocks or mutilated in any way. The victims, both soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division, were shot by unidentified gunmen who had stopped in front of the American’s car, forcing it to come to a halt. The assailants got out of their car and fired at the Americans through the windshield. “Their throats were not slit,” the military official said. “The cause of death was gunshot wounds to the head.”
The statement by the military official today offered some clarity to what appeared to be a gruesome killing reminiscent of a well-known incident involving the deaths of American soldiers in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1993. That incident, in which an American soldier was dragged through the streets of Mogadishu, was seen as one of the principal reasons the United States quit its attempts to bring order to the capital. The military official said that while an initial military report had said that the men’s throats had been cut, further investigation revealed no evidence of such wounds. The military official said that the men had been pulled from the car, presumably to make it easier for Iraqis to rifle through the men’s clothing and steal their possessions. The men were robbed of their personal belongings, the official said, including their guns. But they were not dragged through the streets, the official said. The identities of the men remained undisclosed today pending the notification of their families. Despite today’s statements, important questions remained unanswered about the incident. The main one was why the men were traveling alone through the city streets. Military rules in Mosul and other parts of Iraq generally prohibit troops from traveling outside their bases except in a convoy. The Americans who were killed were traveling in an unarmored sport-utility-vehicle. “There is no excuse,” the military official said. Another mystery was the initial reports about the men having their throats cut. The official could offer no explanation for that.
The incident in Mosul was the latest in a wave of violence that has hit the city in recent months. In the first months after the war, Mosul, an ethnically mixed city of more than two million people, was something of a showcase for the American occupation. Its large Kurdish and Arab populations mingled peacefully, and the soldiers of the 101st Airborne spent millions of dollars refurbishing the city’s public buildings and streets. The atmosphere began to change in September. Since then, there have been a string of attacks on American forces, prompting the 101st to step up military operations inside the city. Last week, in an incident still under investigation, two Black Hawk helicopters crashed in the city, sending 17 soldiers to their deaths. Also today, American military police trying to quell a prison riot in Baghdad killed three Iraqis and wounded eight. The riot broke out at the Baghdad Correctional Center when a group of Iraqis began throwing rocks at the guards. A military official said that when the riot began to spread, American military police were given permission to use lethal force. The riot lasted about 10 minutes, the official said. The Baghdad Correctional Center used to be known as Abu Ghraib, which had the reputation as one of the grimmest destinations for political prisoners during the reign of Saddam Hussein.
I hope it is not true because that is not islamic to do that kind of thing to the dead!
US military stays in denial state
U.S. Says Less Iraq Attacks on Troops
By HAMZA HENDAWI, Associated Press Writer
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Attacks on American troops in Iraq (news - web sites) have declined in the last two weeks and insurgents are increasingly targeting Iraqis working with the U.S.-led coalition in an effort to intimidate them, the top U.S. civilian and military leaders here said Tuesday.
Another international humanitarian organization announced it was curtailing its operations in Iraq because of the deteriorating security situation
You may have heard of several “peaks”, I’m not sure if you have heard of “peak of denial”… in case you have not then perhaps this is one peak. Everyone has seen increasing number of attacks on US military but the military says that number of attacks have declined.
Now there are two possibilities:
- They want to calm US public down and give false news
- They want to stay in denial regarding opposition in Iraq
- They admit that they have hidden number of attacks being reported in past otherwise they won’t call the highest casualties in 3 weeks as “declining”.
what do you guys think it is?

it is true that many Iraqis are helping in the rebuilding. but then those Iraqis couldn't weigh more than that and had no impact, probably because their number wasn't big enough.
wishfull thinking. :halo:
PS : thats the only thing they are good at, assumptions ![]()

Little secret, there's a lot of people out there claming to be Muslims, who slit peoples throats and kill innocents in the name of Allah. The photo’s looked as if the bodies had been beaten.

and there is another secret, we have people killing innocent civilians in the name of freedom and liberation, only difference being these people are troops.
See the thread title Mass Graves over in image forum.
it's just using the facts to state statistics in a more useful fashion.. no one likes to admit the Iraqi 'insurgence' is homegrown and is from ordinary iraqis.. Note also the retraction of the earlier acknowledgement of mangling of two troops.
If acknowledged by the military, these reports will clearly show the Iraqis as being resentful of US presence and the insurgence not a work of terrorists or outsiders or only Saddam loyalists.. afterall it tooks some time for the press to start using the word insurgence for these attacks.
6 less terrorist. BBC NEWS | Middle East | Ambushes target coalition allies
At least six members of a Spanish intelligence team have been killed in an ambush south of Baghdad, the Spanish Defence Ministry says.
‘Jubilant crowds’
A journalist who drove past the scene of the ambush described a jubilant crowd kicking the bodies.
The were reportedly chanting “We sacrifice our souls and blood for you Saddam”.
“We were told by locals there that… they’d killed eight people and they’d captured two others,” the journalist said.
Shia area
Spanish helicopters were sent to the scene to evacuate any survivors.
A wounded officer was apparently taken to a medical centre.
The southern zone where the ambush happened is dominated by Iraq’s Shia majority, which has so far been more accepting of the coalition occupation.
But almost three weeks ago, a suicide bomber destroyed an Italian base in Nasiriya, killing 32 people.
A Spanish diplomat working for Spain’s intelligence agency was assassinated near his residence last month.

Nothing wrong with that whatsoever...more power to them!
sadly, the american soldiers over there are just as misguided as the young pakistanis who crossed the border to fight for the taleban. fighting for ideals, honour, 'peace', 'freedom', religion..all that good stuff that is used so often by people for different reasons altogether.
whereas its good to oppose the reasons should they be nefarious (as I believe the US's are at this point), and though human casualties are(arguably) necessary for effective opposition to the same, I think we fault in the kind of bloodlust we see on these boards, on tv and the news (dragging the bodies joyfully about..knocking their heads in AFTER they're dead).
those whome we revere as Muslims have a history of fighting nobly. It was Hinda who made a necklace from the liver of Hazrat Hamza.
lets choose who we follow carefully.
upon reading through the posts in the thread I see that the mutilation never happened, and that the posters did condemn it if it did. im relieved to see both.
Well these foreign spies have no business in Iraq in the first place.
News is also coming in that two more foreign fighters i.e. US soldiers have been killed in the far west of Iraq. **The deaths brought to 79 the number of U.S. soldiers to die in Iraq during November. It has been the bloodiest month for coalition forces since the war began in March. **](Yahoo News: Latest and Breaking News, Headlines, Live Updates, and More)
Apart from the 79 US soldiers that have been killed in this month alone, a further 28 foreign fighters (Italians, Spaniards, Brits etc) have also been killed. In total a 107 foreign fighters aka “coalition soldiers” have been killed in total during this month - the highest proportion since the war broke out in March. That puts paid to the lies of decreased attacks against the foreign fighters that illegally invaded and occupied Iraq…
2 more killed today:

Toll on U.S. troops in Iraq grows as wounded rolls approach 10,000
BY ROGER ROY
The Orlando Sentinel
ORLANDO, Fla. - (KRT) - Nearly 10,000 U.S. troops have been killed, wounded, injured or become ill enough to require evacuation from Iraq since the war began, the equivalent of almost one Army division, according to the Pentagon.
Unlike the more than 2,800 American fighting men and women logged by the Defense Department as killed and wounded by weapons in Iraq, the numbers of injured and sick have been more difficult to track, leading critics to accuse the military of under-reporting casualty numbers.
Military officials deny they are fudging the numbers. But the latest figures show that 9,675 U.S. troops have been killed, wounded, injured such as in accidents, or become sick enough to require airlifting out of Iraq.
“I don’t think even that is the whole story,” said Nancy Lessin of Boston, the mother of an Iraq war veteran and co-founder of Military Families Speak Out, a group opposed to the war in Iraq.
“We really think there’s an effort to hide the true cost in life, limb and the mental health of our soldiers,” Lessin said. “There’s a larger picture here of really trying to hide and obfuscate what’s going on, and the wounded and injured are part of it.”
The number of sick and injured is almost certainly substantially higher, because the figures provided by the military last week include totals only through Oct. 30.
Koreans and Japanese die in Iraq
Two South Korean electricity workers have been killed in Iraq in the latest ambush involving Asian nations planning to contribute troops to the coalition.
Two other Koreans were wounded in the attack on Sunday near the city of Tikrit, north of Baghdad.
They are thought to have been working for an unspecified US firm and are the country’s first casualties in Iraq.
Two Japanese diplomats and their Iraqi driver were shot dead on Saturday, also near Tikrit, an anti-coalition centre.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - In the deadliest reported firefight since the fall of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s regime, U.S. soldiers fought back coordinated attacks Sunday using tanks, cannons and small arms in running battles throughout the northern city of Samarra. The troops killed 46 Iraqi fighters, and five Americans were wounded.
Minutes later, two South Korean contractors were killed nearby in a roadside ambush in what U.S. officials called a new campaign aimed at undermining international support for the U.S.-led occupation of Iraq (news - web sites). Attacks on Saturday killed seven Spaniards, two Japanese diplomats and a Colombian oil worker.

I would how many American networks have actually given this story prime coverage?
