Its not off notes, its different notes Queen (usually termed as differnet style).
One can still be in sur/notes but sing in different styles like you heard Miraje Talking about Lata singing Mere Naina Saawan Baadon in different style/notes than Kishore.
I have had this played by a professional on harmonium first. You are just used to listen to the original version, that’s all.
