Re: Trip to Vienna, Austria
Great that Vienna has calm and peaceful environs. The German influence over architecture described makes me want to visit it. The best news I think is the availability of spicy food available here. The Dewan restaurant with an offer of a Buffet sounds great. And to make payments according to our wishes is innovative.
Re: Trip to Vienna, Austria
So, I recently went to Vienna for 2 nights. The city is calm and peaceful place. They speak German so you can see the German influence in their everyday life and architecture. Overall I liked the city.
Here are some of the pics, again I used my Nikon D90 with Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens. Some pictures are taken with my iPhone 5.
I will also be visiting Vienna for two days in July, tell me how to plan my two days? did you travel by car or by metro? Where is Dewan located?
Re: Trip to Vienna, Austria
July is good time to visit. I used Metro, I always travel locally when I visit any place. The metros are good and efficient.
Two days are just about enough, visit Schönbrunn Palace, it shall keep you busy for half a day. The city can be explored on foot, lots of museums
Deewan is located near Vienna University. Here is the map Google Maps
If you are fan of hiking then go to Kahlenberg, the view of the top is very nice.
NOTE: When I went there last summer, there were ticket checkers in metro so keep your tickets with you else be ready to pay fine. I found it bit weird but they were in almost every metro.

Logged in to GS after Ages and just saw this post about my hometown. ![]()
When in July are you planning to be here?
Re: Trip to Vienna, Austria
I was in Vienna July 20 and 21st. I really enjoyed my visit. Hotels are expensive so booked a budget hotel. In fact its called IBIS Budget and paid Euro 95 for two nights. But no complaints as i spent most of the time outside. Central vienna is so beautiful, esp in the night time with excellent lighting. Halal food is available, i ate Shwarma and Pizza. And of course the ice cream cones, those were awesome.
Re: Trip to Vienna, Austria
You had a real great time visiting this awesome city. There are, indeed, a lot of great things to see and do in Vienna. Visitors should not really miss Schloss Schönbrunn, great museums like Albertina, the Leopold Museum, the Haus der Musik, the MUMOK, and the Kaiserliche Schatzkammer, and the religious buildings. Have you tried day trips from Vienna to Salzburg and Budapest? These trips are amazing.
