My dilemma is should I try to bring this up one more time and suck it up for a year and then inshallah go to another department or should I really start looking for another job with another company.

Why can’t you do BOTH? Set up a meeting with your boss to discuss your concerns…but at the same time, update your resume and start looking to see what positions are out there for someone with your degree/experience.
