Traveling to Pakistan Anyone?

Re: Traveling to Pakistan Anyone?

Thanks a lot everyone, I got some really useful information. I still I’m scared of traveling with my mom and no male figure, and the fact that I probably will not be receiving any major help from relatives there. But yeah, when I went to Pakistan in 04', I did receive a lot of help and not it's been over 4 years, so a lot must have changed, including the prices!

Insha'Allah I hope things work out. Yeah, whenever I go to the bazaar, I cover myself really well, even than I get so many stares, lol, it's scary, because I’m like why are they still looking at me, how can they tell I’m not from around here, should I just wear a burka? Well, again, please share your experiences, and give me some good advice because I’ll be needing it.

What’s some of the BEST/WORST places to shop at in Lahore? For bridal, party wear, and so on, and places that are decent prices, not all designer wear, I guess both will do.

THANKS AGAIN!

I have a question.... does bargaining occur in liberty stores?

Since my teenage years all clothing/shoes that sort of stuff has always been sent to me for years by a relative exclusively from liberty., lahore.. the relative is from lahore originally and has been living in lahore all her life...she also shops for herself from liberty....

Once or twice i have gone to lahore myself (dont go to pak that often) and went to liberty with the same person as well...she did all the choice making, buying etc... (was long time ago and cant remember how much she bargained, i am thinking there wasnt any signifiicant bargaining because i would have remembered it otherwise)

so in future, if I go to liberty alone for shopping... I wanna know is bargaining expected by shop keepers, and is it practiced by customers ???

oh and by the way as far as i know you can get a lot of really good quality and good looking "non-designer" stuff from liberty as well...for example , amzing heavy formal wears. with lots of new in-fashion kaam on decent colours.... that are not by designers such as karma etc, but are just as good looking if not more ... as comapred to the stuff that we foreigners see on internet by karma , HSY etc. ..
I always get a lot of suits from different botiques as well... but yeah, lots of non-designer stuff too..that looks very decent and amazing!

Re: Traveling to Pakistan Anyone?

Go to fortress suits ar elike 650 rupees!!..or like 2000 and more for fancy suits!
I love shopping there I could spend hours there but most clothes are the same in each shop..

But seriously they have a 6th sense and jus knw straight away ur not frm ther!!me and my cousins try everything..we wear the same clothers that pakistani girls wear and everything..!
Once I did make the mistake of goin out in black stilettos, a ted baker bag and chanel sunglasses..bad move
Hahahaha Woohooooooo not long till i go shoppin in pak

Re: Traveling to Pakistan Anyone?

this means i should be wearing worst looking clothes one can ever imagine (but where should i get those village looking clothes? :bummer:)..n i shouldn’t dont speak at all. :frowning: (well thats a hard part)

but if they dont deal with me honestly then i gonna give them Khutba right over there.
besides, after studying arts i aware of the quality of things-to some extent (so i dont mind giving them their asking price)

…but lets see how it gonna go…i am really petrified (even though i have dealt here in can with best sales marketer of furniture, but still :bummer:)

Re: Traveling to Pakistan Anyone?

yeah Fortress is REALLY great. I get a lot of my stuff from there (you just have to know where to go) and the things are fairly cheap/prices are set already so no bargaining. Liberty has some nice stuff too. Anarkali, I tend to go to buy like kullah kapra or like jootay and stuff.
Hmm...I would go to Fortress for ready-made stuff. If you're looking for kapra or something there's this place near defense, I just can't remember the name. It's kind of small and like run by pathans...:/ ( I know, doesn't help!)

Re: Traveling to Pakistan Anyone?

Does any one know where to buy nice wedding decorations from pakistan, not just mehndi plates, i mean like things i can get custom made, wedding favors, i'm thinking of even ordering a wooden jhula for my mehndi? Any ideas?

the 650 rupees suits are no more! they actually raised the prices to 750-800 RS!

Re: Traveling to Pakistan Anyone?

mehreen my best advcie for you would be to go to fortress and pace shopping center for ready made outfits which are fairly cheap and good quality wise as well! These places have set prices so you wont need to dress down or speak in punjabi for bargaining haha!

for the bargaining part, like if you're visiting anarkali..DONT speak in english. trust me, it was difficult for a person like me who was born and raised in nyc to do this but I did it! soooo yeah just speak in urdu (hopefully you know how) or dont speak at all and let someone else handle the shop keepers.
