I am Inshallah traveling next month to Pakistan,from NY to Lahore.
First time,traveling alone with the baby and I need any tips or suggestions from those who have done it before.The baby will be exactly 6 months old by that time,Inshallah.
A few queries right now in my mind are regarding to bottle feedings.
I understand I wont be allowed to carry water to make her formula through the check point.I was thinking of buying maybe bottled water once we are through the security. It is suggested that bottled water not be used to mix formula…now what can I do about it…??
any suggestions or alternates…??
I always asked for a bottle of water as soon as i got on the plane for the baby. Make sure you ask the air hostess as soon as you sit on your seat because if you wait they will get busy for take-off and you might not get the water for another 30 minutes. In case you baby wants the bottle right that moment. you can always get a bottle from the terminal after security check point but usually they are cold. and if you get it in the plane, 30-40 minutes later it will be room temperature. my son always drank milk room temperature so i didnt have to worry about it. but if you want warm, air hostess can usually warm it for you.
Also, i always used bottled water for my son’s formula… it was just convinent rather than carrying thermos all the time!
Since she only takes the Dr.Brown’s bottles ,so using the bottles with drop in liners is out of question.I am planning on carrying enough sterilized bottles on board so I dont have to worry about cleaning them in the plane…right…??

Another thing ,is about the stroller…we have a travel system…and I am thinking of taking its stroller with me…I was looking at umbrella strollers but she seems too young for those…
now I know they check in the strollers etc right at the gate/or before entering the aircraft…but when do we get them back…??..Do we get them when we are getting off or do we get them at the baggage claim area…?
Do I actually need a baby carrier (like a Bjorn or something…)..??
they will give you the stroller right at the airplane gate when you get off. so u dont have to worry about it. I do think 6 months is too yound for umbrella stroller.
my baby never liked the baby carrier, if you havent used it before, chances are baby wont really like it…
I do not have one and I will get one only of it something really recommended…
I will be packing up a few outfits,undershirts/onesies,diapers,wipes,bottles and formula,bibs/washcloths,a few small toys,whatever solids she might be eating at that time,infant tylenol and diaper rash ointment,a cotton blanket,her teethers which she loves…what else should be there…??
some airlines do carry baby food, but its always a good idea to take the one ur baby likes!
I will so appreciate any suggestions and replies .It will make me realax and actually get excited about my trip home after more than 3 years.
