Re: Transfer of forest land in Kashmir to Hindu pilgrims
"AHMEDABAD: The Modi government is yet to pay subsidy of Rs 20,000 to Gujaratis who went to Kailash-Mansarovar in mid-2006, even at this crucial pre-election time.
The government had provided a subsidy of Rs 20,000 along with a kit to fight cold weather conditions at high altitude. Though the pilgrims were given the kit before leaving for the yatra, they have still not been given the money.
Four batches of pilgrims from Gujarat, with a total strength of 168 persons, had gone to Mansarovar from June to September 2006. Incidentally, the central government pays Rs 25,000, Rs 5000 more subsidy than Gujarat."
While we’re on the topic, why don’t we go over the differences in the subsidies too. It appears that the Hindu subsidy consists of cash paid out to the yatris. The Hajj subsidy, on the other hand, is not a cash payment…the hajjis never see a dime. It consists of a Rs. 20,000 discount on the already inflated Air India (government owned) fare, if you buy your full package through the government (at a total cost of around Rs. 100,000). In essence, the government pays its own, state-owned airline the “subsidy.”
Which of course is why around 50% of hajjis just forgo the subsidy entirely, and make private arrangement through travel agents (at significantly less cost).
we are talking about the central govt here. Modi did lot of disgusting things.
In the times of India news item, they were talking about saudi airlines
also. The fact is around 200 crores are spend subsidizing the travel. The amount of people going to mecca far exceeds the people to Man sarovar.

and the other 50% is just dumb you think, to spend more and get the subsidy? I see. Just stick to chest beating and wailing

The Times of India article I posted says that the central government gives Mansarovar pilgrims Rs. 25,000 (Rs. 5,000 more than Modi's Gujarat).

From what I understand, India-Jeddah-India is always on Air India (which is why there has been such an uproar over the UP Hajj Committee's threat to switch to Saudia entirely this year). Perhaps some of the flights within Saudi Arabia are handled by Saudia...and are covered by the Rs. 100,000 that the hajjis pay anyways.

So what? Air India (and therefore the Indian government) actually generates significant revenue through their Hajj operations...you can't say the same about Mansarovar.
You could at least try to pretend that you people aren't completely communal-minded and complain against both...but I can see how that might be a bit much to ask in India.
Of course, it’s just a waste of breath to ask Indians to do something about the staged encounters, extra-judicial killings, murders, disappearances, unlawful imprisonments, rapes, and general suspension of basic democratic rights in Kashmir…that would require thinking about the rights and well-being of non-Hindus, and I know how difficult that is for Indians.](“Zee News: Latest News, Live Breaking News, Today News, India Political News Updates”)
" A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan allowed the interim order of last year to continue for this year also after s**olicitor general G E Vahanvati **argued that preparations for Kailash Mansoravar Yatra as well as Haj would be seriously hit if the HC order was not stayed for this year too.
** Vahanvati said continuance of last year’s order was urgently needed as the Centre needs to negotiate with Saudi Arabian airlines[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif][FONT=Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]](Mansarovar, Haj subsidies on for 2007, says SC | India News - Times of India) to arrange for the transportation of Haj pilgrims to Mecca. **
While staying the HC order last year, the apex court had asked the Centre whether such subsidies furthered secularism as mandated by the Constitution. Moreover, it had requested the HC to decide the PIL pending before it before Haj in 2007.
With the HC not in a position to give a clear verdict in the near future, Vahanvati requested the Bench to allow the subsidies for this year also.
For the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, the Centre gives a subsidy of Rs 3,250 per pilgrim, totalling Rs 32.5 lakh. In contrast, it gives a subsidy of Rs 28,000 towards airfare of each of the one lakh Haj pilgrims, entailing a total expense of Rs 280 crore on this count alone."
Re: Transfer of forest land in Kashmir to Hindu pilgrims
Why are you people so characterless? if a Hindu boy and a muslim boy have a brawl, some of you are up in arms like Al Sharpton and Farrakhan combined and take to streets shouting "Hindu imperialism". And then when you find out about things like Haj subsidy, do we hear one word of gratitude or thanks? NO! what I hear is that it is nothing compared to what we spend on security arrangements in Kumbh Mela! Have some sense of shame people!
Crowd control and security are basic duties of the government and that is not a special right given to participants in the Kumbh Mela, which by the way has been going on before there ever was a muslim, so don't even start yapping that again
I have no problem giving money to those who want to go for Haj if I have the money and they don't. But after doing thatm, to hear some of you come here and whine is disgusting. Learn some gratitude and don't bite that hand that feeds you
Re: Transfer of forest land in Kashmir to Hindu pilgrims
Govt of India should NOT provide money for anyone going for Haj, Haj is to be performed if you can perform it out of your own pocket and your own health, not at someone else's expense.

just to add... its the lack of sensitivity to other religions mainly hindus that has created communal divide in india...
wat have muslims done in the last 60 yeras to earn the goodwill from the hindus??
But after doing thatm, to hear some of you come here and whine is disgusting. Learn some gratitude and don't bite that hand that feeds you
By all means, take your Hajj subsidy and your illegal occupation and leave. We ingrates will happily manage on our own.
Honestly, you sound like some crusty old colonial saheb complaining about how the Empire 'gave India railroads and a modern postal service...and yet the ungrateful Hindoos still demand independence.'

what illegal occupation? Kashmir is part of india..if u cant take it then commit suicide or become a suicide bomber.BTW thats the best you can do.

Since when? It's still called "Occupied Kashmir" or in International terms "Disputed Territory". When did UN accept Kashmir as an integral part of India? Please provide reference. We may have a breakthrough in debate, at last.
UN and other International bodies still consider the land "Disputed Territory". And that too for a reason.

What a sophisticated argument!!! :biggthumb
If we're resorting to such stupidity I might as well add '90% of Kashmir wants nothing to do with India...if you can't take that, then go and express your frustration the way Indian Hindus always do...by gang-raping a few thousand Muslim and Dalit women and committing state-sponsored genocide against religious minorities.'
Re: Transfer of forest land in Kashmir to Hindu pilgrims
what nonsense is this. Obviously Pakistanis call it occupied but who cares what Pakistanis feel about Indian territory. Legal accession is over and done with and at least after 5 decades, get used to the idea.
