Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
best desi food is desi food cooked by our mamas/wives, in the comfort and cleanliness of our own home! desi restaurants are GARBAGE compared to home cooked meals
Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
'cept those with tandoors...that's the only reason why we'll go to a desi restaurant...for the naan and tandoori chicken...mmmm....
Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
even though this is a late reply however..
I live in the nearby suburb of Mississauga where there is Alhamdulillah an ample Pakistani population as well as a handful of good restaurants.. Gerard St. is also a good check-out.. but stay away from overtly flashy Desi restaurants that are empty
Re: Toronto … must eat places
we hardly ever dine out and if we do, either we find teh place to be expensive or just not worth it since my mum makes the yummiest food:blush:. i actually found Lahori tikka in Gerrad not too bad but it was lil expensive tho.
Re: Toronto … must eat places
^ I went there the weekend I got engaged ![]()
I loved salt n pepper, i thought it was a very nice/decent clean restaurant..we went during lunchtime (sunday afternoon) and the server was kinda slow but the food was very very good…
I also liked Mandarin…its a buffet, they charge abt 20 per head, but the food’s really good there. It’s not halal, but they have tons of variety, seafood, pizza, salad, sushi, desserts, ice cream etc.. It’s a good idea tho if u ask the staff, what has pork and what doesnt…there were a few items there (like egg rolls, certain noodle/rice dishes), that had pork but didnt say so..
We also went to demitri’s, they ahve really good ice cream/dessert there, they also have “regular” food, but I didn’t try that.
Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
Lahore Tikka House, Lazeez, Silver Spoon and some other ones i cant remember
Re: Toronto … must eat places
:slap: u also believe in that confused ppl’s “if it ain’t pork it ain’t haram no matter how it is slaughtered” thing?
Re: Toronto … must eat places
Did I say I did? The chicken/beef might not be halal, but last I checked pizza, seafood, sushi etc were not offlimits :o
Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
Chicken land (Halal)-
3425 Feildgate Drive
(dixie/bloor)
Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
^^ that place is like right near my house .. one turn left at the first minor intersection and i'm there.. how is it.. one of my dad's friend's uncle owns it and according to my dad is deciding to sell it.. the restaurant is empty and offers burgers/pizza mostly so didn't go there >> how is it anyway?
Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
Its some of the best food I've ever had. There wings and bbq chicken is amazing, and I also prefer their fried chicken over popeyes. As for pizza, I doubt they have ever had that or ever will. I mean I've been their customer for almost a year, and I know they have never carried it before since 'Pizza King' is right beside the store. I also doubt your dad's friend's uncle owns the place now since they have had a new management for over 6 months now.
Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
For anyone interested, they also deliver (for free at times) almost all over mississauga. There phone number is edited
Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
^^ So it's prolly sold by now to a new management, will try to check it out if it's like you say it is..
About the pizza; since they have fried chicken, burgers and stuff I thought they'd have pizza too.. LOL at me..
And yes they also started selling biryani since a few months back.. my dad believes it's a let-down since a fast food restaurant won't normally sell biryani.. anyway I hope it keeps running so I can check it out..
After all, I don't have to be right..
And when you buy food from them do you order it over the phone or buy it in person .. and does it feel** fresh** (there's a difference one can notice between reheated and fresh.. it's very keen in desis).. how many other people do you think buy from Chicken Land ;
I feel like givin' it a try.. maybe I will go to the barber's 2moro, perhaps then I will check it out
Re: Toronto ..... must eat places
I tried Chicken Land today... got their fried chicken (weekend special 10 pcs for 9.99+tax). It took 15 minutes to make and was steaming, so it was fresh no doubt. The taste wasn't that good though I think, a bit desi-ized. I expected it to be like Popeyes but the coating was a bit too hard and crispy, and I think they mixed oats in it (my mom makes exactly the same-tasting thing), my mom said they also mixed "besan" in it. I personally didn't like the chicken that much (not as good as Popeyes or KFC), but I might gives the burgers a try next if possible. My parents didn't like it either.
