actually I read a study where successful marriages were made of men who usually did what the wife wanted and women who used humor and gentle persuasion to get their way and no nagging or bitter snide comments.
Actually my personal opinion is that both, the husband and the wife, have to please each other. When I say please each other, I mean dealing with each other with respect and compassion and trying to understand each other by keeping an open mind...and listening to each other by being open with each other...

SOrry to bring everyone down and I know that some of you will find this offensive but I have lived in Pakistan and outside and no matter where I go this is how I have seen women treated by 99% of Pakistani men (and other women).
Wow, looks like you've had some bad experiences....I think lot of Pakistani men are this way, due to their lack of understanding of what Islam says about the man and wo man relationship....
Anyone who knows and understands what Islam says about man and woman relationship would never act that way...But Allah swt knows best...

i am treated like shit in the paki community because i used to smoke and date...i do not want to get married and my parents have practically given up because i am 21 and they think that im past the age...hey they even stopped buying corningware for me :)
i also noticed that 99% of paki guys i know will marry any girl their mother says no matter how much they love some other chic...
ive been dumped more than enough to know this is the way desis men are...i guess its generalizing but hey i figure ill just become a lesbian :)it worx for me! cheers!
