I wouldnt read too much in any performance from this round (yes even from BD). Warm up matches are like friendly fires before the real war begins. Just to ease into the tournament.
Second round of friendly matches seems more like war exercises.

Bangladesh 225/8 (48.5 ovs) beat New Zealand 224ao (45 ovs) by 2 wkts
that could be good and bad news for Bangladesh. Nobody is going to take them lightly anymore (if ever) but they might not care since they do have confidence on their side now.
Group B is going to very interesting esp on these slow pitches.

can't read too much into this result really but a satisfactory performance considering how hard it's for players of established nations to motivate themselves for these 'practice' games

Thing is those whos places arent certain need to be motivated for these games...Rana Naved isnt a certainty and his perfornance today didnt help although his last 5 overs went for 20...Kaneria seemed to do a good job...is he gonna play though?...and Anjum had a good game surprisingly...
Thing is it is Canada and we will see how decent the attack is on Friday against South Africa...btw how does everyone feel about Younis opening?...

Pakistan’s bowling lacks the bite and Rana’s form is not helping either. On the other hand, Yuvraj took 4 wickets.

Fungoo, I was the first one who predicted that, way before Hadlee-Chappel series.
NZ will win. BTW, SA deserves it, but we know they will choke it. I voted for SA but I know it will be either NZ or WI. My gutt feelings.
Pakistan has an option of using 8 bowler in ODI team. Thats simply astonishing. More like a NZ team. Isn't it :D
I say start with Danesh or Afridi with Gul. Like Patel was used in 1992. It won't be worse than Rana.

Don’t worry, our Hafeez is also a very potent prospect. He only bowled 3.3 overs (2 balls less than yuvraj) for his 3 so he can challenge Yuvi’s spin bowling any day

Which proves my theory…a batsman (who can do some part-time bowling) should always be selected instead of a bowler in an ODI game unless the bowler is truly WORLD CLASS.
Corollary to this law : Part-time (Utility) bowlers will generally not bowl any worse than full-time mediocre bowlers in the ODI format.
