What is wrong with appreciating these sentiments? When have ordinary Indian citizens and children become your enemy?
I don’t see Pakistanis as my enemy if you see Indians as your enemy then i feel sorry for you. The only war is the war on denial of many who also deny Malala’s contribution.

It is called humanity. People with humanity realise the pain and suffering of others especially the most innocent. Indians obviously more related and feel more pain when something happens in Pakistan than other countries because we have many similarities. LOt of us look similar, we have similar culture, food and sense of dress. Indians on twitter have offered to donate blood for Peshawar victims because it has touched them. On 20th there is even a blood drive to donate blood.

One of my friend in Peshawar tutored a child who was killed on 16th. So it doesn’t just affect Pakistanis. I feel her pain as well. His name was Mubeen Shah. So speak for yourself if you feel this is some PTSD but you don’t speak for all Pakistanis. My friend believes in power of prayer and is appreciative of these sentiments from India.

You talk of worst enemy but please let me know how your “bestest” friend Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, countries in middle east and China have responded? Any trending twitter tags? Any statements of solidarity from their heads of state? Any offers to donate blood? Any minutes of silence or prayers for the children who have suffered? If they have done the above or anything i will feel happy as well.

I appreciate the Turkish prime minister and the many Western prime ministers who have condemned this and offered assistance. Turkey has also made lowered their flag in mourning.

Yes always think of negatives even when positive occurs. Did i say there were no issues between governments of India and Pakistan? I appreciate this positive initiative. It’s not called a mask it’s called recognising humanity and the innocence of children who should never be brought into politics. Don’t ever point fingers at the people who are carrying out the crimes like the Arabic speaking terrorists who carried out the crimes. I’ve also asked many questions about your bestest friends according to you. feel free to answer them as well.
I can point out hate mongering statements made by Hafiz Saeed and Zaid Hamid just on the 16th but I don’t feel it is appropriate right now. The whole world knows it is Taliban which is the issue. Feel free to remain in denial about the main issues. George Bush, Obama, the dictatorships in middle east have controversial prime ministers but no one has cut links with them as well. If you can’t appreciate a message of goodwill from a fellow country that is your issue. The whole world has spoken about this India-Pakistan solidarity and appreciated the moments of silence/solidarity.
Maybe you like the message of JeI but i don’t like the messages of extremism either my side or your side of the border.

For you if Saudi Arabia or UAE or Kuwait had done any of these positive initiatives you’d forget about Saudi funding of Wahabbi institutions, their ban on Pakistani women and Kuwait’s ban on Pakistani visa. Does that not sound like bullying to you? WHy do i hear silence and justifications for these actions. Some unbiased people might call these double standards that some, but not all, have. I am happy you represent a small, dwindling, soon to be non-existent paranoid mindset of some Pakistanis. Unfortunately because of such mindsets the humane, open minded mindsets get drowned out. Not anymore. I have many Pakistani friends who can understand our commonality and our common humanity. You don’t represent them. I recommend you read Phoenixdesis, Shak and Shamraz’s posts.

I agree with you. I always am against the reactionist mindset of some sporting organisations who act abruptly and other groups. We need to give less exposure to extremists from either side. I find it sad that it takes an event like this for our common humanity to show but i hope this is a turning point. I find it reassuring that even politicians, who are corrupt and untrustworthy, could have a 2 min silence and encourage schools over India to do the same. Then well known celebrities from cricketers to bollywood stars have tweeted about this.

Some of the tweets have been quite heart touching including offers to donate blood. I think obstacles should be reduced so people touched on other side can offer help through blood donations or medical help.

Maybe you think positive but that comment did not show your positivity. I am expressing my views and you are expressing yours. You don't have to read my posts but as long as i am not violating any rules and engaging in peaceful manner i am free to post what i like. I am no one to teach people how to think. GS has some fine thinkers already from Jolie, Phoenixdesi, Shak, Shamraz, Reha etc. This thread isn't about schooling people. It is about Indians sympathising and empathising with Pakistanis from across border. I don't see any messages of schooling in any of the pictures kaka posted.

I live in The States. For the last year, I have gone to the same gas station to fill up my car on my way home from class. Tonight was no different. I went inside, handed the cashier my money and was walking out. He stopped me and said “Putt, bara afsoos hoya… jo oh janwaraN ne jo kitta Pakistan’ch.” (Translation: Beta, my condolences… for what those animals did in Pakistan.")

I’ve never said anything other than “$40 on pump 2, please” to this guy. I honestly thought he was Hispanic.

But he went out of his way to share his afsoos with me. And then we spoke for a few moments about what happened. I could see the genuine pain in his eyes. Absolutely blew me away!!

But today, when you butchered over 130 children in cold blood in a school in Peshawar, I fear there is nothing left in me. I don’t know what your objective was, but you have certainly reduced me to a dead man walking.
What tenet of religiosity can you quote to justify such slaughtering of children? What twisted perception of which faith can you claim to adhere to? Does it require bravery to shoot barefaced children, innocents who do not understand the concept of conflict, much less the evil face of terrorism?
Killing children cannot be an act of faith in any religion. According to early reports, you are the same monsters who tried to kill Malala Yousufzai on October 9, 2012.
You did not kill her; her bravery won her the Noble Prize earlier this month.
Words cannot adequately despise the monstrosity which you have committed. True, there have been greater pogroms in history such as Lidice, Dachau, the purges of Stalin, the Cultural Revolution of Mao, the killing fields of Cambodia. But these were political movements or results of conflict.
What you have done today is something not reflected in history; the slaughter of innocents.

Pictures of war and conflict often move me. Today it was different. I saw a picture of a father who had tied the shoelace of his son before he sent him to the ill-fated school.

I was not moved. I broke down.
Your dastardly act today will have united parents everywhere and earned you their curses. Time will prove that their curses will not have been in vain.
