23rd February, 2012 : Argentina experiences one of the worst train crashes it has seen in forty years. At least 50 people died as a result of the crash and over 600 others were injured after a train hit the end of a platform in Buenos Aires.

8th April, 2012 : Mike Wallace, famous for his interviews on the US news program 60 minutes, died at the age of ninety-three after suffering from poor health for several years. Wallace was one of the original hosts of the program when it started in 1968 and had worked there until he announced his retirement in 2006. Some of his most famous interviews include talking to Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Yasser Arafat, and Jack Kevorkian.

13th April, 2012 : North Korea's much anticipated rocket launch to test a long-range missile technology failed shortly after launch. Several countries who were monitoring the event said that the rocket was only in the air for a short time before it broke apart and crashed into the water. North Korean officials stated that the test was aimed at putting a satellite into orbit and that they had scientists analyzing what went wrong.
