From what I have seen, you have to be a combination of an arsehole and an arse kisser to move forward and go far in life. Its all about knowing when to switch between the two roles. Timing and intensity.

humble people don't get far? Why did Muhammad Ali convert to Islam then? Didn't he choose the Religion of Allah and his most humble servant to ever walk on the face of the earth? A servant who got so far that he brought light to the dark ages. The light which will not go out till the end of times. What a disrespect. If Allah had wanted it he would've have vanished the predictions he made before the fights. What an ungrateful man.

not sure why people mix things up.

being assertive is not the same thing as being an ass.
being confident is not the same as being arrogant
being driven is not the same thing is being obsessive

yes you need to be assertive, confident and driven to succeed
being an obsessive arrogant ass is not the same thing.
