In the wake of Raymond Davis case, it does.
Re: Tit for tat: India hits back at US over Devyani's mistreatment
lady police did that....
Lady police or man-police or dog-police, strip search should be for criminals or terrorists posing threat to society.

Well how do we know she isn't a criminal? a crime has been alleged thus she has been arrested and her supposed crime will be investigated appropriately. The same with any suspect rich or poor.

Not every one who gets 'arrested' is strip searched I believe, only when you go to jail for serving time then you lose your personal clothing and switch to jail uniform. The criminal I mean to be strip searched should be someone involved/or alleged-to-be in killing/attempted murder/ drugs where there is potential for the suspect to kill /attack police/law-enforcement to attempt fleeing.

I do agree a strip search does seem unnecessary however I do hope they continue with the investigation as her alleged crime is deplorable.

I dont think it has anything to do with nature of crime. IMO Americans wanted to send a message to diplomats to show who the big brother is.
There have been worse crimes by diplomats who were not prosecuted in other countries. In case of RD, they claimed diplomatic immunity, but are not willing to extend it to Indian diplomat. Thats double standards.
