^^ Tipu Sultan did some blunders which brought his enemies to the gates of his capital..
I like him, as he was the man who stood for what he believed in, but he could have made more out of it if he could have allied with any local state/partner.. instead he was to leaning to much on French troops... 2ndly he didn;t recognized his enemy till the last minute... he was to generous to give them relaxations.. I guess ( if iam right) in one of the wars he had clear vicotry over his local rivals that is Hyderabad and Pune. But instead of crushing them completely he signed a treaty with them... that one of the biggest mistake he did and i think he or father had same chance with Brits.. and instead of showing them the way back to london, they signed a pece deal ( which according to me was the VISA for them to stay and , assess and plan a new war...)
It is a shame that such an advanced society that produced leaders of valor and wisdom such as Tipu, Shivaji and numerous others was so easily manipulated by the East India Company and the British. Goes to show how important regional unity is.
Take current times for example. India and Pakistan are at logger heads intermittently. So third parties are able seize the differences and sell billions and billions of weaponry to both which only help sustain the differences even more.
The same billions could be used for such productive purposes otherwise.
In feb. I was in Mysore but I didn’t visit this place Daulat Bagh where it is in Mysore? I just visited here where Tip Sultan was buried along with his other family members “The Mausoleum of Tipu Sultan”
tipu was cool but take a look at his worthless descendents ...one of his great grand daughters was a terrorist helping the french terrorits in 1940s she lived by licking the boots of the british and was killed like a b%$#@ by a german anti-terrorist squad
What we all really need to learn from Tipu's experience is to not do anything that he had done. That means following the West in learning and seeking knowledge in every aspect of our lives. And making alliances with the West instead of challenging it, with half cooked half baked rocket-bazi bait-bazi.
haha nice comeback. Tipu was an adept ruler of his time, the EIC was not going to leave such a dangerous ruler on their southern flank for long. He had also made appeals to the Durranis of Afghanistan and I think the ottomans to stop the British, but the lack of local allies made things impossible. “It is far better to live like a lion for a day than to live like a jackal for a hundred years"
I read that Tipus Sword was brought back to India by an Indian businessman a few years ago..
Wow, thanks for sharing the pictures hollowman! :k:
Is Tipu and Hyder Ali’s grave situated inside this dome?
Did you get any pictures of those and is this place near the place where the palace was and where he fought his last battle?

The freaky Inayat family's a direct descendant of Tipu Sultan?!?! :O
Where’s the place where Tipu fought the last battle and eventually fell? Is it at the Mysore palace?
And Hyder Ali’s grave is also beside Tipu’s right?
Are these people even muslims? Their actions certainly dont suggest so. The literature on their website doesn’nt even mention the word “Islam” or “Shariah” or anything related to the traditional sciences of Islamic Education.
Windsor Palace's Queen Mary's Doll House meuseum carries Tipu Sultan's Swords, clothes, many other personal artifacts and also one leg of his stage that he used to sit on. It was a face of a lion and made of pure gold. Everything is quite fascinating. They do not allow to take pictures otherwise I was dying to take some pictures. The gold work of emerlads and rubies on the swords was truly amazing.
@ hollowman
well, we too had our Kodaikanal-Ooty-Mysore holiday like that.
it was like an hour in Mysore palace and itz a big palace, so we couldnt really see all of the palace.
and no, Tipu Sultan didnt die anywhere near the Mysore Palace.
it wasnt even Tipu's, right?
